LE SSERAFIM collaborated with a Netflix series through a new song in Japan.
LE SSERAFIM (Kim Chaewon, Sakura, Heo Yunjin, Kazuha, Hong Eunchae) will perform the theme song "Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino)" for the Netflix series "My Melody & Kuromi," which will be released on July 24. "My Melody & Kuromi" is a stop-motion animation featuring the titular Sanrio characters.
This year marks the 50th and 20th anniversaries of the characters My Melody and Kuromi, respectively. LE SSERAFIM's participation in a work released in such a special year highlights their popularity and influence.
Japanese renowned singer-songwriter Gen Hoshino produced "Kawaii (Prod. Gen Hoshino)" and Heo Yunjin contributed to the lyrics. Heo Yunjin noted, "I hope listeners will enjoy savoring the lyrics." This song will also be included in LE SSERAFIM's 4th Japanese single, "DIFFERENT," set to be released on the 24th.
A preview of "My Melody & Kuromi" was posted on Netflix's official YouTube channel on the morning of the 12th, featuring a short clip of this song. Its unique chord changes are striking, and the dynamic beat combined with a familiar melody captivates listeners. Additionally, this song reflects the animation's universe and conveys the message that "cuteness is a strong power that can transform one's individuality into an asset."
Meanwhile, LE SSERAFIM is conducting their first world tour, "2025 LE SSERAFIM TOUR 'EASY CRAZY HOT,'" meeting fans worldwide. Having successfully completed recent performances in Nagoya, Osaka, and Kitakyushu, they will conclude their Japan tour at Saitama Super Arena on the 12th and between the 14th and 15th. The Saitama concert will feature the first performance of the title track "DIFFERENT" from their recently pre-released 4th Japanese single on the 9th.
