Former Fin.k.l member and actress Sung Yuri's husband, professional golfer Ahn Seong-hyun, has been released on bail after being indicted under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes for allegedly soliciting tens of billions of won in connection with the listing of a cryptocurrency transaction exchange. However, the court proceeded with the release under conditions.
On the 11th, the 13th Criminal Division of the Seoul High Court (Director General Baek Kang-jin) made a decision to approve Ahn Seong-hyun's bail application on charges of fraud under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
The court specified the conditions for bail as ▲ a deposit of 50 million won ▲ residence restrictions ▲ a ban on leaving the country and foreign visits without court permission ▲ restrictions on contacting other defendants and witnesses.
Following Ahn Seong-hyun's bail approval, the bail requests for Lee Jang-jun, the former CEO of Bithumb Holdings, and businessman Kang Jong-hyun, both sentenced to prison in the first trial, were also approved on the same day. The two are charged with embezzlement and breach of trust.
Ahn is accused of soliciting 3 billion won in cash and two luxury watches worth a total of 400 million won, along with a high-end restaurant membership card, from businessman Kang Jong-hyun in exchange for getting Coin A listed on the Bithumb transaction exchange, and delivering these to former CEO Lee.
In the first trial sentencing hearing held in December last year, the court found that former CEO Lee and Ahn had accepted luxury watches and high-end restaurant membership meal vouchers, sentencing Ahn to 4 years and 6 months in prison and former CEO Lee to 2 years. Businessman Kang was sentenced to 1 year and 6 months in prison for breach of trust.
The court explained, "There is no significant evidence to acknowledge that Ahn delivered any of the 3 billion won received from Kang to former CEO Lee," stating that "the two confirmed luxury watches and the restaurant membership separately accepted by former CEO Lee are guilty."
It further stated, "Soliciting and receiving bribes at cryptocurrency transaction exchanges undermines the fairness and transparency of the capital market," adding, "The crime was planned, and there has been no recovery of damages," and ordered the defendants sentenced to prison to be detained.
As a result, singer and actress Sung Yuri began to take care of Ahn. Last year, she earnestly prayed, "I hope the truth about the unfair and difficult things our family is experiencing will be revealed," expressing her grievance regarding Ahn's charges. Following Ahn's sentencing, she returned to broadcasting through home shopping and resumed her social media activities, actively sharing her daily life.
Meanwhile, Ahn Seong-hyun married actress Sung Yuri, a former member of the group Fin.k.l, in 2017. The couple has twin daughters.
