(Following interview②) 'Gwangjang' actor So Ji-sub expressed his thoughts on the mixed reviews from original fans.
On the 12th, an interview with So Ji-sub for the Netflix series 'Gwangjang' took place at a cafe in Jongno-gu, Seoul.
'Gi-jun,' who had severed his Achilles heel and left the world of Gwangjang, returns after 11 years following the death of his younger brother 'Gi-seok,' who was the organization's second-in-command, to uncover the truth behind seeking revenge, was released on the 6th through Netflix.
'Gwangjang,' which is based on the webtoon of the same name, garnered attention from the moment the series was announced. Among them, So Ji-sub was also considered the 'top choice' for the role of the protagonist 'Gi-jun' that fans wanted the most.
In this regard, So Ji-sub said, "I am grateful. I have that kind of image, and it's nice that people see me that way. I think the synchronization rate is similar. It doesn't seem to be the hairstyle, though. I might have been the number one choice for casting, don't you think?" he joked.
However, some original fans expressed disappointment over the adaptation version. In response, So Ji-sub said, "I was satisfied with the script before seeing the original work, which is why I started filming. Later, I watched the original, but fans really love this webtoon. I can feel that deeply," he cautiously opened up.
He continued, "When original fans see it, there will definitely be a mix of opinions. The most important thing is that when we get the work and spend a lot of money to create it, we are not trying to distort the original work. Rather, we want to surpass the original. So while there are mixed feelings, even if it is adapted, it is something we loved so much that we brought it in the first place. I hope you will see it positively."
