Singer Wax will re-record her representative song 'Fixing Makeup' in the sentiment of 2025.
Her agency Fun Entertainment announced on the 12th, "Wax will release the first single 'Fixing Makeup (RE:WAX)' from the remake project [RE:WAX] as a single at 6 p.m. today." The digital track will be simultaneously released on various platforms and YouTube, with the music video also premiering at the same time.
This project is a long-term endeavor that will sequentially remake Wax's five representative songs, and it is expected to reinterpret Wax's deepened voice and the passage of time as she celebrates her 25th anniversary since debuting with 'Mom's Diary' in 2000.
In particular, teaser content released on the 10th and 11th piqued the curiosity of music fans. The video aesthetics and sound, which elegantly express the emotion of the original song, have drawn attention even before the release.
'Fixing Makeup,' which marks the beginning of the remakes, is a ballad that was included in Wax's second studio album in 2001 and gained explosive popularity.
The lyrics, which calmly convey the pain of parting, and the emotionally charged melody of this song left a remarkable impression, dominating the upper ranks of music charts and pop music ranking programs at the time, while also being featured in numerous dramas and entertainment programs, solidifying its status as 'the standard of breakup ballads.'
Even now, many remember it as 'life's BGM,' and it is regarded as a masterpiece that transcends generations and delivers a deep resonance.
Wax noted, "I hope that 'Fixing Makeup,' sung again as my present self while preserving the emotions of that time, becomes another memory for someone."
Other remake songs in the [RE:WAX] project following 'Fixing Makeup' will be released sequentially.
Celebrating her 25th anniversary, Wax will appear on the entertainment industry program 'Pursuing Old Encounters' Season 2, which will be broadcast simultaneously on cable channels KBS Joy and KBS 2TV on the 16th at 9:50 p.m., while also taking on new challenges outside of music.
