It has been 4 years since renowned natural cuisine researcher late Lim Ji-ho passed away. This marks the 4th anniversary of someone who left a warm meal and a profound echo in the hearts of many with the nickname 'Wandering Gourmet.'
Late Lim Ji-ho passed away from a heart attack in the early hours of June 12, 2021, at the age of 65. The sudden news shocked not only the public but also the entertainment industry and the cultural world.
Late Lim Ji-ho was a person who captured the hearts of the public with cuisine resembling nature. Traveling all over the country, he completed his dishes with ingredients at hand, creating meals infused with the breath of the earth. The cuisine born from his fingertips embodied a philosophy of life and became a comfort that soothed someone's heart.
His cuisine was more than just simple cooking. Through the connection of nature and humanity, the relationships between people, and a meal filled with stories, he communicated and healed. Thanks to this, the name 'Wandering Gourmet' established itself not just as a nickname but as a way of life. He also appeared at the dining tables of key figures in various sectors, including former President Moon Jae-in, gaining public trust along with the label 'star chef.'
From 2014 to 2016, he appeared on the SBS cultural program 'Have You Eaten?' and showcased a warm natural dining experience with Kang Ho-dong and Hwang Je-seong on MBN's variety show 'Let's Eat More.' He also made his presence felt in various programs like SBS 'Master in the House' and 'Law of the Jungle.'
Just 8 months before his passing, he faced the audience through the documentary film 'Bobjeong.' This work, which encapsulated the longing for his biological mother, his foster mother who raised him with love, and the mothers he met along the way, offered heavy comfort to viewers even during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Director Park Hye-ryeong, who directed 'Bobjeong,' shared with OSEN, 'The teacher's life was tougher than anyone else's, but he always lived overcoming adversity with thoughts for others. Before he passed, he wanted to establish a food research institute in Jirisan, and it's so sad that he couldn't fulfill that dream and left us so suddenly. I hope many will remember him for how much he loved people.'
In particular, actress Kim Hye-soo expresses deep longing every year to commemorate him. On the 1st anniversary, she placed a bouquet and a cigarette at his grave and wrote, 'I miss you so much. I love you, Teacher,' and on the 2nd anniversary, she conveyed her condolences with a short, heartfelt message saying, 'Dearest Teacher.' On the 3rd anniversary, she posted several pictures of him on her social media, including many stills from the film 'Bobjeong,' reminiscing about his warm demeanor during his lifetime.
