After broadcaster Hong Jin Kyung was embroiled in controversy over political bias, she once again spoke out directly. Following the release of a handwritten apology via social media, she shared a related video on her YouTube channel, expressing her grievances and sincerity.
On the 10th, Hong Jin Kyung uploaded a video titled "I'll tell you everything, the truth about the red outfit" on her YouTube channel 'Study King Jin Genius Hong Jin Kyung,' clarifying the controversy once again.
Hong Jin Kyung stated, "Because I am the person who interviewed three presidential candidates, I should have been very careful. Nonetheless, I deeply regret posting without much thought." She continued, "Regardless of whether you believe me or not, I will speak with the life of my most precious daughter Rael."
"When I posted that photo, I didn't think about any specific candidate or political party, nor did I even consider my thoughts about Korea. I simply thought the outfit was pretty, and because it was so beautiful, I thought I should post it. That was it," she explained in detail about the situation at the time.
She also disclosed, "In fact, I was unable to participate in early voting. I had to leave early for a business meeting in Helsinki, and after finishing all my schedules, I happened to buy clothes from a shop near my accommodation while taking some free time in Stockholm," explaining the circumstances that led to her purchasing and wearing the controversial outfit.
Hong Jin Kyung expressed, "That evening, I wore a pretty sweater, took a photo, and posted it on social media at 9 p.m. local time. After going to sleep, I woke up the next morning to receive dozens of missed calls around 2 p.m. Korean time, and I was shocked to post a clarification."
The video included recorded business trip footage detailing the entire process behind wearing the red sweater, supporting Hong Jin Kyung's claim of innocence. She mentioned, "My daughter Rael sent me a DM saying, 'No matter how anyone evaluates you, I'm on your side,'" which made her emotional, and she pledged dramatically, "If it's a lie, three generations will be ruined and my life will be messed up," asserting her innocence.
He also commented on the presidential candidate interview content, stating, "My pure intention was to inform the public about the policies. The order of uploads was also determined by a dice roll," adding clarification regarding the fairness controversy.
She also addressed suspicions regarding the director, Seok Ro PD, stating, "I think misunderstandings arose because he is from TV Chosun, but he has long left that company and established an independent YouTube production company." The PD also expressed his grievances, saying, "I made sure to balance aspects like the thumbnail, length, and size of faces fairly."
In conclusion, Hong Jin Kyung stated, "Not having any thoughts was my fault. It is clear that forgetting it was the election period and letting my guard down was my mistake. However, outside of that, there were no political intentions," and she apologized once again. At the end of the video, the subtitles read, "I am truly sorry for disappointing you.
