A story of a woman troubled by her boyfriend's obsession with settling date expenses to the penny appeared on 'Love's Intrusion: Men and Women.'
In the recently aired episodes 1-2 of 'Love's Intrusion: Men and Women', there was a story of a woman in her 30s who struggled due to her boyfriend's 'settling obsession.' The woman's boyfriend, who operates a fashion business, resembles actor Jung Haein, standing at 180 cm tall, and it is said that he appeared perfect in the early stages of their relationship with his kind tone and outstanding fashion sense.
However, as their meetings became more frequent, she felt exhausted by her boyfriend's attitude of splitting the date expenses to the penny, saying, 'To keep meeting for a long time, we must not owe each other anything.'
The woman attempted to gift her boyfriend an accessory, suggesting, 'I want to gift you this bracelet, so let's exclude its price from the calculations,' but he rejected her, saying, 'That can't happen. To have a long-lasting relationship, we must settle properly.'
Upon hearing this, Seo Hyo-rim remarked, 'There is an unchanging truth: a man's love is proportional to time and money. Sharing everything indicates he doesn't love you that much.'
Later, during a trip with her boyfriend, the woman stopped by a store and said, 'I forgot my toothbrush and feminine products. I'll pay, so let's put them in the basket together,' but her boyfriend replied, 'Those are personal items, so they should be separated from what we buy together. The personal items should be paid for by the individual, and we can settle what we bought together.'
Regarding his request to pay separately for about 12,000 won worth of personal items, the woman grew angry and said, 'Enough already,' and reported that she ended up paying for everything they bought together. After the trip, the boyfriend sent her the settlement amount, and although she said, 'I don't want this money,' he still insisted that 'to maintain a long relationship, we must settle properly.'
In response, Kim Min-jeong expressed her anger, saying, 'This seems excessive' and 'I don't think I could date this man,' while Go Woo-ri also sympathized, stating, 'I feel somewhat turned off.' When Seo Hyo-rim shared her own dating experiences, Go Woo-ri admitted, 'I am very frugal' and 'I don't spend money.' When Jo Chung-hyeon remarked, 'You're quite fancy today?' while explaining her outfit, Go Woo-ri clarified, 'It's not my outfit, nor is it my ring,' and humorously added, 'I've never met anyone thriftier than me.'
The scene that surprised the cast the most was when the woman suggested, 'Let's create a date fund,' and her boyfriend firmly rejected it by saying, 'We don't know when we'll break up, so gathering the money all at once seems risky.' This prompted the woman to realize her boyfriend's true feelings. Nevertheless, she shared that she still thinks, 'It's nice to see his face,' and is confused about whether they should continue dating or break up.
In response to the story, Go Woo-ri stated, 'It's not about splitting things evenly; the problem is that this man doesn't love that much. He's setting boundaries.' She advised the woman to break up.
Kim Min-jeong then asked, 'How did you settle expenses with your husband when you were dating?' Go Woo-ri replied, 'Sometimes I paid discreetly, sometimes he did, and we alternated.' Seo Hyo-rim said, 'My husband paid for everything,' expressing gratitude to her husband for accepting her personality. She also conveyed that it's not just about looks or money, but the size of one's heart that should matter.
