Singer Hong Kyung-min, who created the Hong Chang-ki cheer song, reveals the story behind its creation and discusses royalties.
The third episode of SBS's 'Wow, There's Such a Thing' airing on Thursday, Dec. 12, at 9 p.m. features a special 'Sports New Record' segment with hosts Jun Hyun-moo, Baek Ji-young, Kim Ho-young, and Soobin, along with guests Kim Tae-kyun and Yoo Hee-kwan in the studio. In particular, the identity of a 'unique baseball fan' who possesses enough LG Twins uniforms to fill a whole container will be revealed, captivating the audience.
During the opening, Jun Hyun-moo welcomes the guests, saying, 'Korea's legendary baseball player and the eternal number 52 of Hanwha Eagles, Kim Tae-kyun, and the fantastic control master Yoo Hee-kwan are here.' In a cheerful atmosphere, the production team visits Hong Kyung-min's studio to meet the first main character of the 'Sports Special.' Hong Kyung-min, who has recently gained much love for the Hong Chang-ki cheer song, expresses his gratitude, saying, 'The fact that people around me reacted this way is the first time since "Shaken Friendship," so I think this is my best output.' He shares the reasons behind creating the cheer song for Hong Chang-ki and openly discusses the royalties that everyone is curious about. As curiosity builds about the backstory of Hong Chang-ki's cheer song, Hong Kyung-min hints, 'The real star I will introduce today is the big shot in the cheer song world!'
Along with that, the 'big shot in the cheer song world' that Hong Kyung-min mentioned makes an appearance, introducing himself as 'Hwang Seok-bin, who has sung the most cheer songs in Korea.' He continues, 'I have sung about 500 cheer songs in various sports, not just baseball, but also soccer, volleyball, basketball, and ice hockey,' even surprising everyone with a live performance. Furthermore, he openly shares his studio and reveals, when asked by the production team about his wishes as a singer, his long-held desire.
