Actor Yoon Da-hoon shed tears while recalling the years he lived as a single father.
On the 9th broadcast of KBS2TV's 'Let's Live Together with Park Won-sook,' Yoon Da-hoon's parents were depicted serving a meal to their three daughters. This seemingly happy couple appeared calm and deeply loving.
Park Won-sook presented a set of makgeolli bottles and glasses purchased at a pottery festival as a gift. Yoon Da-hoon proudly remarked, "It's all chosen by my sisters." Yoon Da-hoon's parents were indescribably happy.
Park Won-sook asked, "How long have you two been married?" Yoon Da-hoon's father replied, "We got married in 1963," which drew envy from others. He added, "We rarely have arguments as a couple. We endure when one of us is angry. We hardly ever fought," boasting about their strong marriage.
Park Won-sook inquired about the couple's background, saying, "I heard your father was in the electrical business. Your mother was a beautician." Yoon Da-hoon's mother explained, "I'm from Gongju in South Chungcheong Province and ran a beauty salon in Daejeon."
So how did Yoon Da-hoon's father, a native of Seoul, meet Yoon Da-hoon's mother from Daejeon? It was thanks to a blind date arranged by Yoon Da-hoon's mother's brother-in-law.
Yoon Da-hoon's father said, "My mother always told me to marry a woman from Chungcheong Province because I'm a good person. I never saw my match in person, but this person had met several candidates. I decided to marry upon seeing her for the first time," adding a playful remark.
Hye-eun asked, "What kind of son was Da-hoon when he was young?" Yoon Da-hoon's mother replied, "He was good. When he shared candy, if a friend asked for some, he would take it out of his mouth and give it to them. He was foolish when he was young," praising her son with a modest expression.
Although it was a harmonious family, the household atmosphere changed after Yoon Da-hoon unexpectedly announced his partner's pregnancy in his early twenties. Yoon Da-hoon stated, "I shared the unexpected news." Yoon Da-hoon's mother recalled, "He said, 'I messed up.'"
Yoon Da-hoon's father remarked, "We raised our granddaughter." So why did Yoon Da-hoon become a single father? Yoon Da-hoon's mother explained, "We intended to have them marry. At that time, Yoon Da-hoon had just returned from the military and was unemployed, so the other family opposed the marriage."
Yoon Da-hoon's daughter Nam Kyung-min grew up without being able to properly call him daddy. Yoon Da-hoon's mother said, "Yoon Da-hoon's daughter called her father 'uncle.' When fans approached, she came running. She didn't want to lose popularity by calling him daddy," she said. Overwhelmed with feelings of guilt towards his daughter and gratitude towards his parents, Yoon Da-hoon wept, saying, "I haven't done anything for my parents. I want to be a good son after being born as their son." He also expressed, "I was surprised that such a young child had those thoughts. I wondered how sad my parents must have been. I felt guilty, and guilty again."
