Actor Yoo Hae-jin wished for the reverse run of "Big Deal."
An interview with actor Yoo Hae-jin for the film "Big Deal" was held at a café in Anguk-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, on the morning of the 9th.
The film "Big Deal" revolves around the IMF financial crisis in 1997, where Jong-rok, a CFO for whom the soju company is life, and In-beom, an employee of a global investment firm who pursues only results, confront the fate of soju for the Korean people. Yoo Hae-jin plays the role of Pyo Jong-rok, a CFO fighting to save a soju company in crisis.
"Big Deal" premiered on the 30th of last month. Unlike interviews typically conducted before a premiere, Yoo Hae-jin's interview took place about ten days after the release.
On that day, Yoo Hae-jin noted, "If it's doing well at the box office, that's a good effect, but I am a bit disappointed with the score. The release was sudden and changed unexpectedly. There were already scheduled filming dates, and thus, we couldn't avoid conflicts. That's how work is. When it's busy, everything gets mixed up and tangled."
"Please write it well so that it can reverse-run," Yoo Hae-jin requested, sharing his thoughts after watching the film. He said, "Right now, it's very stimulating and aligned with the entertainment genre, but within that, I felt that this film has significance."
He continued, "After watching it, I thought about what values I should place on life. In that sense, it seemed to be a meaningful work. I talked about this during a stage greeting yesterday, questioning whether my direction in life is correct and where I place my values. From that perspective, I think it's a meaningful piece."
Given that Yoo Hae-jin is known for being a drink enthusiast, he reacted positively to the idea of participating as a member of a soju company in this work, saying, "If it were a whiskey company, it wouldn't have been as good; there's a familiarity. I've heard that in our country, regardless of wealth, there seems to be equality in regards to alcohol consumption. Both the rich and the poor drink soju. It's such a familiar drink, so in that regard, I enjoyed talking about soju." He added, "I don't like straight liquor. I used to drink a lot before, but now I can't."
