The first domestic childbirth relay variety show, TV CHOSUN "Our Baby is Born," featured special guests Shim Hyun-seop and Jang Seo-hee, who were moved to tears as they experienced the emotional moments of childbirth.
The new variety show "Our Baby is Born" (directed by Lee Seung-hoon and Kim Joon/written by Jang Joo-yeon) aired on June 6 at 10 p.m., with Shim Hyun-seop, who is enjoying "55 Gold newlywed" life, and "Empathy Fairy" Jang Seo-hee joining as special guests. Newlywed Shim Hyun-seop expressed his strong desire for a second child, saying, "I need to work hard day and night at home, but here I am. When my child is born, I'm going to shout 'Nightba-ya' in front of the baby," raising expectations from "Smooth Wind Fairy" Park Soo-hong and Yang Se-hyung.
The childbirth protagonist met with the special guests that day, former baseball player and commentator Heo Do-hwan and his wife Nam Ji-young. On the day of childbirth, expectant mother Nam Ji-young expressed her nervousness, saying, "What if I can't wake up?" while Heo Do-hwan noted, "I'm nervous too," revealing his anxiety. This was due to the fact that the expectant mother had overcome several miscarriages. Heo Do-hwan expressed regret, saying he wasn't by his wife's side when she was in crisis, as he was away for competitions and away games.
Amid concerns, the expectant mother entered the delivery room for a cesarean section. Heo Do-hwan explained the potentially dangerous situation, saying, "My wife experienced cardiac arrest twice when she was young. Plus, she has panic disorder, so we came to a general hospital." While the expectant mother was in the operating room, obstetrics and gynecology specialist Kim Ji-yeon explained the process of the cesarean section. Kim Ji-yeon said, "We have to cut the uterus and take the baby out, which is one of the really difficult processes from a doctor's perspective." Park Soo-hong, who welcomed his daughter "Jae-yi" via cesarean section, empathized deeply with the expectant mother's pain, saying, "The expectant mother is really struggling to safely deliver the baby. I really need to treat my wife well."
Meanwhile, medical staff came out of the delivery room and said, "The baby was delivered successfully, but the expectant mother is anxious and experiencing hyperventilation. It seems she is feeling uneasy due to the spinal anesthesia and blood pressure dropping. It's a panic attack." They brought Heo Do-hwan to his wife's side. The expectant mother was maintaining unstable breathing to the extent that she had to wear an oxygen mask, and Heo Do-hwan urged, "Honey, don't lose consciousness, you need to open your eyes. You can't let them roll back." Afterward, Heo Do-hwan saw his wife's breathing stabilize and went to meet the newborn. He shed tears of joy, saying, "Thank you for being born healthy." His recovered wife also came up to the room, and the baby met mom and dad for the first time. Upon hearing his mother's voice, Heo Do-hwan's son opened his eyes wide as if to convey his feelings, looking at mom and dad. Unmarried Yang Se-hyung was so moved that he froze while holding the tiny newborn, sharing, "I found it amazing that I was holding a pure soul." Additionally, Shim Hyun-seop, who watched the scene on VCR, congratulated Heo Do-hwan on his meeting with the second child, saying, "It feels like I'm looking at my future."
Another couple who experienced the childbirth process was Tak Tu-in, a 17-year veteran actor, and his wife Park Mi-mi. The Tak Tu-in and Park Mi-mi couple were expecting their third child after three miscarriages. However, the expectant mother was worried as she faced difficulties with anemia and uterine fibroids, making a cesarean section challenging. She had already experienced "uterine adhesion" during the delivery of their second child. It was anticipated that the uterine adhesion could have worsened, possibly even requiring a hysterectomy. While waiting for his wife to undergo surgery, Tak Tu-in continued to cry, saying, "I'm worried something will happen to you." As the expectant mother prepared for surgery, she comforted her husband, saying, "It's okay. Don't cry," and bravely entered the operating room.
Though the surgery took longer due to severe internal adhesion in the abdomen, the baby was born healthily. Upon hearing the baby's cry, the expectant mother shed tears of relief. Thankfully, the expectant mother's surgery was also successfully completed, and Tak Tu-in, who shed tears of joy over the birth of their third child, couldn't hide his delighted smile when his wife emerged healthily. "Empathy Fairy" Jang Seo-hee shared, "It feels like watching a drama," also moved to tears. The newlywed Shim Hyun-seop, who shared in the emotional moments of the childbirth scene, called his wife Jeong Yeong-rim and promised, "I suddenly remembered. I'll do well," bringing laughter.
