Koo Hye-sun has recently joined the judging panel of the 17th Seoul International Senior Film Festival (SISFF).
He is attracting attention as he joins key figures in the film industry, including director Lim Sun-ae, who directed the film 'Love at the End of the Century,' Song Kyung-won, editor of the film magazine 'Cine21,' and film journalist Jang Seong-ran, to assess the submitted works.
The 'Seoul International Senior Film Festival,' now in its 17th year, is a global film festival that fosters understanding and communication of elderly life across generations through films, and it will be held for five days from June 9 (Monday) to 13 (Friday).
In this context, Koo Hye-sun has been selected as a judge for the institutional sector of the SISFF International Short Film Competition, showcasing stories created by young and elderly directors from around the world.
Previously, he formed a special connection with the 'Seoul International Senior Film Festival.' In 2013, Koo Hye-sun's short film 'Fragments of Memory,' which he directed, won the Young Director Award at the festival, captivating both the audience and critics who attended that year.
Koo Hye-sun, returning to the 'Seoul International Senior Film Festival' in his capacity as a judge, meticulously watched all the submitted works and reportedly participated in the judging to the best of his ability.
Koo Hye-sun's legal divorce from actor Ahn Jae-hyun was finalized when their divorce mediation agreement was reached in July 2020, and afterward, he re-enrolled at Sungkyunkwan University and graduated at the top of his class; he is currently studying for a master's degree at KAIST.
Notably, he recently announced the launch of a hair roller. In January, he appeared on the MBC entertainment program 'Radio Star' and said, "I graduated from Sungkyunkwan University after 13 years. I couldn't just graduate, as there is a system called the three-item requirement. You have to either file a patent or submit credentials. So I applied for a patent. It is a product made by looking at hair rollers." He added, "It's a hair roller that can be unfolded and put away. Wouldn't it be nice if it was served on airplanes?" indicating that he developed the 'hair roller' with a KAIST professor.
Meanwhile, Koo Hye-sun will take his first step as a judge for the 17th Seoul International Senior Film Festival, starting with the opening ceremony on the 9th at CGV Piccadilly 1958.
