The group SEVENTEEN (S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, THE 8, MINGYU, DOKYEOM, SEUNGKWAN, VERNON, DINO) topped the singles album chart in Billboard Japan's '2025 first half chart.'
According to Billboard Japan's '2025 first half chart' announced on the 6th (accounting period from Nov. 25, 2024, to May 25, 2025), SEVENTEEN's fourth Japanese single 'Shohikigen (消費期限/소消費기한)' secured the top spot in 'Top Singles Sales.'
'Top Singles Sales' ranks physical sales of singles albums. SEVENTEEN achieved sales of 831,553 copies with 'Shohikigen,' placing them at the top of the chart as an overseas artist.
SEVENTEEN stated through their agency Pledis Entertainment, "Thanks to our fans, CARAT, who always support us, we were able to achieve this wonderful result," adding, "We will continue to bring good music, so please look forward to it."
'Shohikigen' has been consistently popular since its release last November. The album topped major single charts, including Japan's Oricon 'weekly combined single ranking' upon release. It has continued to increase sales, receiving a gold disc 'triple platinum' certification from the Japan Record Association for cumulative shipments of over 750,000 copies last March.
The regular fifth album 'HAPPY BURSTDAY,' which was unveiled last month, is also receiving a hot response locally by securing first place in four categories including Billboard Japan's overall album chart 'Hot Albums' (June 4) and 'Artist 100.' The initial sales figure of the new release (sales within a week of release) exceeds 2.52 million copies, the highest among K-pop albums released this year.
The title track 'THUNDER' is also maintaining its strong momentum. This song has not only topped the Bugs real-time and daily charts, as well as Melon's 'Top 100,' but has also secured first place in the digital sector of the latest Circle Chart weekly chart (accounting period from May 25 to 31). All 15 tracks on the album have successfully entered the charts, showing widespread popularity.
On the 5th, SEVENTEEN embraced the 1st place trophy for 'THUNDER' on Mnet 'M Countdown,' marking their second win in music shows following MBC M's 'Show! Champion.' The members expressed, "Happy 10th anniversary," and noted, "We dedicate this honor to everyone who has worked hard for us, especially to the CARAT fans who love SEVENTEEN; we are incredibly grateful. We will continue to show our best ways." They are set to continue their comeback activities on MBC 'Show! Music Core' on the 7th.
