Pop star Justin Bieber (30) may receive a portion of the $1 billion (approximately 1.35 trillion won) asset generated from the sale of his wife Hailey Bieber's beauty brand, Rhode.
On the 4th (local time), the U.S. entertainment media Page Six reported, "Justin and Hailey married without a prenuptial agreement," noting that "assets formed during marriage can be considered community property under California law." In other words, it is analyzed that Justin could take half of the revenue from the sale of Rhode in the event of a divorce.
Former model Hailey successfully established herself in the beauty industry through the skincare brand Rhode, which she launched in 2022. The brand recently attracted attention when it was acquired by e.l.f. Beauty for up to $1 billion, and Hailey is expected to join as the company's creative and innovation officer.
However, experts pointed out that "the $1 billion is a theoretical value, and the actual revenue that goes to Hailey may be much lower than that." This is because $800 million of the acquisition amount will be paid in cash and stock, while the remaining $200 million will be paid variably based on performance over the next three years.
In this regard, a well-known divorce lawyer stated, "It is very rare for celebrity couples with large asset sizes to marry without a prenuptial agreement," adding, "Thus, it is highly likely to be considered community property."
The Bieber couple secretly formalized their legal marriage at a New York court in 2018, then held a grand wedding at a luxury resort in South Carolina. They have been embroiled in various rumors of discord since then, but recently, Hailey reportedly confronted those spreading rumors, calling them "jealous b*tches."
Meanwhile, Justin also generated about $200 million in revenue by selling his entire music catalog to an investment company in 2023; however, legal experts explain that this asset, which was acquired before marriage, does not fall under Hailey's claims in the event of a divorce.
The couple currently owns a total of six properties, including a mansion valued at $26 million (approximately 3.5 billion won) located in Beverly Hills near Los Angeles.
Currently, Justin has temporarily suspended his activities due to health issues. He was diagnosed with a rare disease called Ramsay Hunt syndrome that triggers facial paralysis in 2022, leading him to cancel his world tour, reportedly resulting in a revenue loss of about $90 million.
