Actor Youn Yuh-jung shared her thoughts on working with Song Kang-ho in the Netflix series Beef Season 2.
Recently, in an interview with the U.S. media Collider, Youn Yuh-jung noted, "The reason I'm staying in LA is that I have the final shoot remaining. Originally, it was scheduled for late March, but due to the weather, it got postponed, and now the shoot in LA has been pushed to the end of April."
'Beef' Season 2 consists of a total of 8 episodes, depicting the story of a young couple witnessing a fierce conflict between a boss and his wife. Besides Youn Yuh-jung and Song Kang-ho, the cast includes Carey Mulligan, Oscar Isaac, Charles Melton, and Kaylee Spany.
In this season, Youn Yuh-jung plays the role of a billionaire female chairperson at the center of a power struggle set in a country club. The young couple roles are cast with Kaylee Spany and Charles Melton, while Oscar Isaac and Carey Mulligan appear as the club chairperson and his wife, engaging in a tense battle of wits. All these conflicts are expected to intertwine within the internal political struggles of the club and the influence of the chairperson played by Youn Yuh-jung.
What stands out the most is that Youn Yuh-jung will portray a wife opposite a husband who is 20 years younger. That counterpart is none other than Song Kang-ho, known for his roles in films like Parasite and as a frequent collaborator with director Bong Joon-ho.
Youn Yuh-jung already has a connection with Song Kang-ho from their collaboration in the 2011 film The Housemaid. She stated, "My character is a billionaire chairwoman, and my husband is 20 years younger. It was a very interesting setup," adding, "In reality, the age difference between Song Kang-ho and me is exactly 20 years. I'm very curious and excited to see how we will portray a married couple."
She continued, "This role was a different challenge compared to previous ones," and expressed her affection by saying, "I'm glad to be able to act with Song Kang-ho."
Meanwhile, 'Beef' Season 2 is expected to be released in the second half of 2025.
