WM Entertainment has introduced the rookie girl group USPEER, a decade after Oh My Girl. While the agency's direct seniors became a 'national girl group' with their conceptual charm, USPEER aims to follow in their footsteps with a focus on 'sporty' and 'energy'.
USPEER (Yeo Won, So Yi, Si An, Seo Yu, Da On, Chae Na, Lo A) released their first single album 'SPEED ZONE' along with the music video for the title track 'ZOOM' at 6 p.m. on the 4th through various music streaming sites.
USPEER is the girl group presented by WM Entertainment, which discovered B1A4, Oh My Girl, ONF, and Lee Chae Yeon, about a decade after Oh My Girl. The group name USPEER is a combination of 'US' and 'SPEER', meaning 'to ask', conveying the message that 'we will understand the essence of the world we will share and create a better future.'
USPEER consists of seven members with various charms, including team leader Yeo Won, passionate rapper So Yi, versatile member Si An, lovable Seo Yu with a sweet smile, bright and lively Da On, energetic Chae Na, and emotional vocal youngest member Lo A.
The senior group Oh My Girl from the agency has made a mark by mastering various concepts. USPEER also stands out from the start. Attention is drawn to their usage of 'captain' instead of 'leader' for the role. They consider USPEER to be like a sports team, and the members are seen as athletes, thus deeming the term 'captain' more suitable than 'leader'.
In that sense, it is a debut album; the meaning of the first single album 'SPEED ZONE' takes on a different significance. 'SPEED ZONE' is an album illustrating USPEER, which has just crossed the starting line, moving forward at their own pace. The K-POP representative production team MonoTree participated in the track work to support USPEER's first musical journey.
The debut song 'ZOOM' is an electro hip-hop track that offers strong addiction with confident rapping, powerful vocals, and a speedy development. Rather than referring to the camera 'zoom', it signifies the sound of racing or dashing forward, effectively showcasing USPEER's ambition to run confidently toward the world at their own speed.
A sound reminiscent of a car's exhaust is striking, while the catchy melody captures the ears. The point choreography that resembles movements of navigating through obstacles and casting spells enhances the addictiveness. The members' distinct vocal and rap characteristics also add to the listening enjoyment.
The first single album includes the title track 'ZOOM' and the included song 'Telepathy', which combines a UK garage rhythm with R&B sensibilities, delivering vibrant energy and a different flavor compared to the intense title track 'ZOOM'.
USPEER, filled with sporty energy, identifies their unique energy as their differentiator. Dreaming of becoming the pillar of WM Entertainment, USPEER's dash has begun.
