'WSWF' provided a thrilling twist with the return of its rank mission.
The second episode of Mnet's 'World of Street Woman Fighter' (directed by Kwon Young-chan and Choi Jeong-nam, hereafter referred to as 'WSWF') aired on the 3rd and featured the signature rank mission. The broadcast achieved first place in the 1539 target and 2049 male and female viewership ratings during its time slot (AGB Nielsen, based on paid households in the metropolitan area). In particular, it ranked first in viewership among women in their teens, twenties, thirties, and forties, showcasing a remarkable presence among female viewers.
It is also sweeping the popularity rankings. 'WSWF' achieved the feat of ranking first in the non-drama category of the TV-OTT popularity index for the fifth week of May as announced by Good Data Corporation FUNdex, and cast members BUMSUP, LIP J, and Kyoka dominated the non-drama cast popularity rankings, maintaining a significant level of excitement.
The battle to designate weaker opponents as part of a national competition was an intense series of clashes. The match between the U.S. breaking national representative Logistx (MOTIV) and Korea's waacking queen LIP J (BUMSUP) drew significant attention, as both displayed respect for each other beyond the results. In the first half battle, MOTIV and the ROYAL FAMILY tied for first place, while Team Korea BUMSUP remained at the bottom with the most losses, causing shock.
The subsequent battle in the second half was a relay team battle where the 'double score' system was applied. While it was possible to earn double points for a win, double loss points were incurred for a defeat. Among them, the clash between OSAKA Ojo Gang and RHTokyo was captivating, with RHTokyo emerging victorious. BUMSUP managed to achieve revenge against AG SQUAD but was insufficient to turn around the rankings. The final ranking of the national competition saw RHTokyo in first place and BUMSUP in sixth place.
The rank mission officially kicked off. The rank mission is divided into leader, middle, and rookie ranks, with each rank completing dance videos, and this season saw changes in the number of participants by rank, promising a spectacular viewing experience. Alongside this, an audio release for the rank mission, featuring a line-up of top producers and artists, raised further expectations. 'ECHO!', worked on by SEVENTEEN's Hoshi and Woozi, 'Ridin'', with participation from NMIXX (Kyujin, Lily, and Jiwoo), and 'Flip Flop', produced by Pedi and Gummy & SINCE, are set to be released.
In the rookie rank, composed of a powerful duo, BUMSUP's choreographer was selected, surpassing the K-POP choreography expert RHTokyo. However, a twist emerged during the main dancer selection. After an intense rematch between AG SQUAD and BUMSUP, the main dancer position went to AG SQUAD (Vanessa, Aaliyah). LIP J noted, "I'm grateful that you made my choreography shine brighter than ours. I'm really looking forward to shooting the video with all of you," conveying respect for rival AG SQUAD and leaving an impression.
The middle rank, featuring a total of 24 participants, also saw a continuous series of twists. BUMSUP made it to the final threshold for choreography selection due to the efforts of choreography expert Leejung, but could not surpass the barriers of AG SQUAD, which showcased dynamic choreography using bandanas. The competition for the main dancer position was also fierce. Compressed into a three-way battle among AG SQUAD, RHTokyo, and the ROYAL FAMILY, the ROYAL FAMILY claimed the main dancer position amid enthusiastic praises from the judges.
In the leader rank, leaders including Kaea, Honey J, Marlee, Ibuki, Riehata, and Teesha battled intensely for the choreography for 'ECHO!'. The iconic choreography by world-renowned choreographer Riehata undoubtedly captured attention, while Honey J also showcased a formidable presence by incorporating Korean elements. The choreography selection went to Riehata. With everyone expressing a desire to avoid becoming backup dancers, curiosity arises as to who will occupy the main dancer position in the leader rank.
Meanwhile, next week's broadcast is expected to feature the main dancer selection for the leader rank along with the dance video production mission for each rank, heightening anticipation. Mnet's 'WSWF', which is expected to trigger another syndrome with the national competition, airs every Tuesday at 10 p.m. (KST).
