Actress Kim Hye-eun, a graduate of Seoul National University's Department of Vocal Music, apologized for her remarks criticizing author Yoo Si-min, who graduated from the Department of Economics at Seoul National University.
On the 4th, Kim Hye-eun posted a handwritten letter on her social media, stating, "I hope this does not interfere in the time we fully observe the people's choice," and added, "I sincerely apologize to all who felt discomfort or were disappointed due to my post on May 31."
Earlier, Kim Hye-eun had posted a message criticizing author Yoo. On the 28th of last month, Yoo appeared on the YouTube channel "Kim Eo-jun's Dasbwaida" and said of Seol Nan-young, the wife of Kim Moon-soo, the People Power Party's presidential candidate, that she "is not in her right mind," igniting controversy.
In response, Kim Hye-eun remarked, "I think I have never been ashamed of my degree from Seoul National University like these days. I want to convey my apologies on behalf of others," and pointed out, "The academic background and intellect of a person are nothing more than a worthless brag on a piece of stationery in front of those who speak as evidence of a hard life."
However, Kim Hye-eun later expressed through her Instagram, "To those who have watched over me for a long time and to those who unexpectedly saw the post and felt disappointment and discomfort, I am deeply reflecting on the fact that the responsibility for those feelings lies entirely with me."
She added, "As someone who has spoken for a long time, I learn once again about the weight of words through this incident," and said, "I will not forget that realization and will strive to be a more disciplined actress."
Furthermore, she stated, "In the future, I will consider more deeply the impact of my thoughts and expressions as an actress and will approach my role as a public figure with caution and responsibility," and expressed, "As a citizen who loves Korea, I support a happy Korea more than anyone, a developed Korea, and a future Korea that stands tall in the world."
