Kim Yong-bin, who won 'Mr. Trot 3', drew attention by revealing that he had been offered to join SHINee by Lee Soo-man.
On the 1st, KBS 2TV's 'The Boss's Ears Are Donkey Ears' (hereinafter 'The Boss's Ears') featured Kim Yong-bin, Son Bin-a, and Cheon Rok-dam, who won the trot survival show.
Kim Yong-bin, Son Bin-a, and Cheon Rok-dam, who appeared in the third part of Park Myung-soo's 'Walking to the Boss's House', met Park Myung-soo at Son Bin-a's house that day and shared various stories.
After winning the grand prize and receiving a cash reward of 300 million won on 'Mr. Trot 3', Kim Yong-bin answered the question about how he spent the prize money by saying, "I paid off some debts."
He continued, "I really don't have time to spend money. Many people come to visit, and there are many events. I'm happy. I filmed a cosmetic advertisement for the first time not long ago."
He stated that since appearing on 'Mr. Trot 3', he feels he made a good decision by not participating in seasons 1 and 2, saying, "Now I've become the winner." Setting a record for eight consecutive weeks of being first in the popularity votes during the show, he noted, "Lim Young-woong said he couldn't secure first place every week," and added, "The number of fan club members has increased twentyfold. Recently, I went to an event and saw that 45 buses from the fan club came."
Park Myung-soo asked when he started singing, and Kim Yong-bin revealed, "I took the stage since I was 7 years old. My grandmother raised me when I was 4 years old, so I grew up listening to trot instead of children's songs."
When asked if he had dreams of becoming an idol, he honestly replied, "Lee Soo-man from SM once offered me a chance to join the SHINee group," and added, "I said I couldn't do it."
Kim Yong-bin shared, "After becoming the winner of 'Mr. Trot 3', my aunt was the happiest. She raised me. My grandmother passed away last June," and continued, "My grandmother said she hoped I would work hard on 'Mr. Trot 3.' Even if I were gone, she would always help me. That's why I participated; otherwise, I wouldn't have done it." This statement elicited a poignant response.
What was the toughest thing for Kim Yong-bin, who has been active since childhood? He revealed, "When I was young, I was frequently sought after, but when I became an adult and tried to make a comeback, the pressure increased, leading me to develop panic disorder. I couldn't do anything for nearly seven years."
He added, "However, that time was not wasted. If it hadn't been for that time, the suffering wouldn't have come out in my songs."
On that day, Kim Yong-bin, Son Bin-a, and Cheon Rok-dam held a surprise guerrilla concert at KBS, having a chance to meet with fans up close.
