'Squid Game' Season 3 raises anticipation further as it unveils the main trailer and 15 stills.
"Knock, knock. Who is it? It's a kid." The familiar children's song begins the main trailer with an eerily captivating tone, transitioning to a terrified participant standing behind the legs of a giant 'Younghee', adorned in floral tights, who makes her return to the game.
This impressive opening raises curiosity about how the fairytale-like devices that stimulate childhood imagination will transform into the horror of 'Squid Game' in Season 3. The scene of 'Gi-hun' (Lee Jung-jae), who has unwillingly returned and erupts in anger, asking, "Why didn't you kill me? Why did you spare me?", vividly conveys his profound guilt after losing his friend 'Jeong-bae' (Lee Seo-hwan) and returning alone.
Meanwhile, the return of 'Frontman' (Lee Byung-hun), who reappears as the game's overseer from the participant 'Young-il', watching 'Gi-hun', heightens the tension about how he will alter the dynamics of the game. The newly introduced alley sparkling with stars and the jump rope game raise curiosity about what ingenious surprises await participants and viewers alike. Additionally, in the extreme circumstances of the ongoing brutal game, the fierce confrontations among participants vying for survival preface an unpredictable narrative.
The desperate pleas of 'Geum-ja' (Kang Ae-sim), crying out to end the game, along with 'Myeong-gi' (Yim Siwan) pressing 'Jun-hee' (Jo Yuri), asking, "What do you plan to do, just sit here and die?", portray the urgency among participants. Furthermore, 'Gi-hun' reenters dressed in a suit with number 456 and, finally removing his mask to reveal his identity, says to 'Frontman', "456, do you still believe in people?" Their confrontation amplifies expectations for the ultimate encounter between 'Gi-hun' and 'Frontman', the two polar figures of 'Squid Game'.
The accompanying stills draw attention by depicting the struggles of participants striving to survive in the unfinished 'Squid Game.' First, 'Gi-hun', sharply gazing at someone in a suit, raises questions about whether he can completely dismantle the game. The still of 'Frontman', dressed in a suit with number 132, piques curiosity about his new narrative. Additionally, the surviving participants, including 'Myeong-gi', 'Dae-ho' (Kang Ha-neul), 'Hyun-joo' (Park Seong-hoon), 'Yong-sik' (Yang Dong-geun), 'Geum-ja', 'Jun-hee', and 'Nam-kyu' (Noh Jae-won), showcase various emotions in differing scenarios. Particularly, the image of 'Kyung-seok' (Lee Jin-wook), clutching his stomach while facing a Pink Soldier, heightens curiosity about his fate after being shot in the rebellion. The scene of 'Jun-ho' (Wi Ha-jun) looking at a game invitation marked with ○△□ adds intrigue regarding whether he can uncover a decisive clue about 'Squid Game'. The still of 'No-eul' (Park Gyu-young) throwing off her Pink Soldier mask while aiming a gun suggests that she will also face unpredictable events. Finally, the Pink Soldier guarding the game door alongside the imposing 'Younghee' enhances anticipation for the new and more intense games to come.
