Heo Young-man, who visited Buan 20 years ago for a 'Food Traveler' report, met Han Geu-ru at 'Gomsoyeon Jeon.' Han Geu-ru, who debuted as a singer in 2011, is actively working after taking over the advertising industry and transitioning into acting. Han Geu-ru and Heo Young-man moved to another location, enjoying jeotgal rice and braised flatfish while continuing their conversation. Han Geu-ru explained the meaning of her name, saying, 'It starts with Han Geu-ru's tree and aims to form a dense forest.' Regarding the epithet 'Apgujeong Yui,' which has been associated with her since her debut, she remarked, 'I was called that because I was said to resemble her,' and about her relationship with Joo Young-hoon, she noted, 'We were together in a volunteer organization. He asked if I had thought about debuting, and that's how I ended up entering that company as a trainee, leading to my debut as a singer. At that time, starting as a singer provided more opportunities for grants such as entertainment appearances.'
At 34 years old this year, Han Geu-ru moved to the U.S. when she was in 5th grade and to China in 2nd year of middle school. Han Geu-ru joked, 'My kids are very interested in foreign languages these days and often ask me questions. I've forgotten quite a bit over time, but I sometimes pretend to speak fluently on purpose.'
Next, Han Geu-ru and Heo Young-man moved to try Buan's famous dish, pig's blood sausage and blood soup. Han Geu-ru revealed her taste, stating, 'I love finding local restaurants, and whenever I discover an old store while walking, I try to eat there.' While at the restaurant, she met students from the baseball team and shared, 'I enjoy sports. I do swimming, gym workouts, yoga, Pilates, and aerial yoga. Among these, I do three of them every day. I attended an arts school in Beijing, China, and I got used to moving, so it suits me well.' Furthermore, Han Geu-ru showcased her skills in martial arts, learned when attending school in China, receiving warm applause as a result.
While being a rising star, Han Geu-ru suddenly announced her marriage and halted her activities at the age of 23. Although she became a mother of twins at a young age of 26, Han Geu-ru manages to balance parenting and acting as a single mom after her divorce. She candidly admitted, 'To be honest, I didn't think about the kids. I returned to my main work after they entered elementary school. Until then, I hadn't spent a night away from them. I took care of their baths and meals myself. On the first day I was apart from them, we both cried, but it felt good to be out.' She added, 'While raising the kids alone, I found small joys but it was very tough. The happiest moment was when I received the confirmation text for their kindergarten admission. I cried then.'
Han Geu-ru and Heo Young-man wrapped up their day with spicy squid salad and clam soup. Han Geu-ru commented on her journey to becoming an actress, saying, 'I've had a strong interest in acting since I was young. I used to imitate characters from cartoons featuring princesses, but I have never been able to play a princess or a role from a wealthy family. I mainly take on characters who live hard but strive to live well, and I want to experience roles as a member of a wealthy family too.'
Han Geu-ru said, 'I was so happy eating delicious food that I didn't think about it, but when I had the clam porridge, the first thought that came to mind was that I wanted to share it with the kids.'
