The episode of MBC's variety show 'Home Alone' aired on the 30th, showing Kim Dae-ho visiting the neighborhood where he cherished childhood memories after more than 30 years.
On this day, Kim Dae-ho, visiting his second hometown, Ansan, was surprised to see an APT. complex built where his former apartment complex once stood. In an interview, he reminisced, "Thinking back now, it seems that we lived in hardship. We started in the basement and moved as we changed floors," adding, "Wasn't there a house like Song Kang-ho's in the movie 'Parasite'? I lived in such a house."
Continuing, Kim Dae-ho also recounted visiting the APT. that was his parents' first home, recalling that his mother won a housing lottery and saved 100,000 won out of his father's 240,000 won salary as a deposit for the home.
Kim Dae-ho explained, "We only put flooring in the living room. There were a total of three rooms, but my parents painted them themselves to save money. I followed them, painting, and while waiting for it to dry, we would get Jajangmyeon. It was an APT. we made like that before even moving in."
Ultimately, with tears in his eyes, Kim Dae-ho shared, "Isn't this the house my parents worked so hard to buy when they were even younger than me? I see myself as a child there."
In particular, that day, Kim Dae-ho noted, "My father worked so hard," adding, "He was working at a textile company when he had an accident. He was in quite a bit of pain."
"When dyeing, the roller spins, and my father had his work clothes caught in it. Fortunately, a colleague who was nearby turned off the machine, which saved him from having a rib fracture. It was a moment that could have taken his life. I think my father felt that at that moment," he recounted.
Kim Dae-ho also conveyed, "While work is important, what's the use if you're not healthy? That's why my father decided to move to Yangpyeong, his hometown, to farm and live without greed. I still remember how hard my parents struggled back then."
