It has been two years since model Lee Pyeong (the late Lee Pyeong) passed away after battling cancer.
The late Lee Pyeong passed away on May 31, 2023, after fighting cancer, at the age of 43.
The late Lee Pyeong fiercely fought against her illness during her life. She shared her daily life on social media, updating friends who were concerned about her health. Two months before her death, she posted, saying, "I'm really tired of Instagram these days, and I don't want to do it, but if I don't, people will wonder what's wrong. I'm eating well and living well."
The news of her passing was conveyed through model Lee Seon-jin. Lee Seon-jin posted on her personal channel a day after the late Lee Pyeong's death, saying, "Pyeong-ah, I don't know what to say. No, what should I say to you? It's too late. I couldn't contact you often or take you out for a nice meal, and I just let time pass. Actually, I was scared you might be in a lot of pain, so I avoided contacting you. I'm sorry. Please forgive me for being such a fool."
Lee Seon-jin continued, saying, "I hope this way, your journey won't be lonely, and I'm writing this, but I don't even know if I'm doing well. Please don't be in pain there and smile more and be happy. Let's definitely meet again later. I'm sorry, Pyeong-ah. I love you," conveying her heartfelt feelings.
Lee Seon-jin also mentioned, "(Lee Pyeong) was in a lot of pain for a long time due to cancer. Even though she was in pain, she walked the runway and worked as a model, and she was very happy. She wanted to be remembered only for her wonderful looks as a model and didn't want people to know she was in pain, so she didn't inform others about her hardships. The best model. I ask everyone to join her on her journey for this wonderful junior."
The late Lee Pyeong's sister also publicly shared her sister's final moments through social media, saying, "To all the friends, seniors, juniors, model colleagues, and students who accompanied my sister on her last journey, I sincerely thank each one of you for being with us as family from beginning to end. I believe that thanks to all of you, my sister is now at peace and in a good place without any pain."
The late Lee Pyeong, who debuted as a model at the age of 18, walked the runway for top domestic designers such as André Kim, Lee Sang-bong, Jo Myung-rye, Park Chun-mu, Lee Kyung-won, and Kwak Hyun-joo. In 2016, she won the female model category at the 31st Korea Best Dresser Swan Awards and the model award at the Asia 美 Awards.
