Actor Shin Dong-uk, who revealed he is battling the rare disease Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), has shared that he has regained his health after about a year and a half, garnering a strong reaction from internet users.
Shin Dong-uk recently surfaced by sharing a photo taken with actress Ko Hyun-jung on social media. Earlier, he confessed on his personal social media in December 2023, 'For the first time in fall, I underwent a minor surgery, and I spent months enduring hardship to reduce the CRPS oral medication I was taking,' receiving support from many.
Shin Dong-uk, who debuted in 2003 as part of KBS's 20th recruitment, gained attention for his charming visuals and acting skills in projects like 'Soulmate,' 'The War of Money,' and 'Steal the Stars.' However, he paused his career in the entertainment industry after being diagnosed with CRPS during his military service in 2010, enduring a long battle with the disease. CRPS is a rare illness characterized by persistent and severe neuropathic pain in a specific area following trauma, known to be difficult to cure.
After over six years of treatment, he made his face public through a broadcast in 2016, and has continued to appear in various works since starting with 'Fasoo' in 2017 and including 'Live' and 'Dr. Romantic Season 3.' In particular, after the conclusion of 'Dr. Romantic 3' last year, he focused on treatment while continuing to fight to reduce his CRPS medication.
At that time, an insider told OSEN on the 27th, 'Actor Shin Dong-uk underwent a necessary surgery for CRPS, which is not a very major operation,' adding, 'Currently, his condition and physical state have improved significantly, and he has reduced the medication he usually took by nearly half.' Shin Dong-uk reportedly endured significant hardship to cease the medication during his break after 'Dr. Romantic 3.' The insider noted, 'The medication was related to narcotics, making it hard to stop or reduce, but now he is gradually tapering it down and has improved a lot,' adding, 'Particularly, during the process of stopping or reducing the medication, symptoms like dizziness and vomiting occur. Many patients can't endure that and end up taking the medication again, but he seems to have managed to tough it out.'

Dressed in a white hat and a linen setup, Shin Dong-uk's appearance exuded a healthier vibe, attracting attention.
