In the film "Big Deal," Yoo Hae-jin said he drank actual alcohol during a drinking scene.
On the afternoon of 29th, a press screening of the movie "Big Deal" was held at CGV Yongsan I-Park Mall in Seoul. The main cast, including Yoo Hae-jin, Lee Je-hoon, Son Hyun-joo, and Byron Mann, were present.
"Big Deal" (distributed by SHOWBOX, produced by The Lamp) tells the story of Jong-rok (played by Yoo Hae-jin), who is the financial director of a soju company during the 1997 IMF financial crisis, and In-beom (played by Lee Je-hoon), an employee of a global investment firm solely pursuing revenue, as they confront the fate of soju for the people of Korea.
Yoo Hae-jin played the role of financial director Pyo Jong-rok, who sacrifices himself to prevent the bankruptcy of Gukbo Soju. He is portrayed as deeply loyal to the company while also having a humble side. However, he faces a major crisis when he meets employee In-beom from the global investment firm.
When asked if there were similarities to the recent hit "YADANG: The Snitch," Yoo Hae-jin responded, "There may be similarities, but fundamentally, it is different. While 'YADANG: The Snitch' features characters living for individual desires and ambitions, my character in 'Big Deal,' Jong-rok, lives for the whole company rather than himself. Since he possesses a belief and values in the company, I believe there is a significant difference in terms of thinking about everyone."
Yoo Hae-jin, whose face turned red during the drinking scene, revealed, "I applied makeup for the shoot, but I actually drank a couple of shots. However, I only drank enough to not disrupt the filming."
Lee Je-hoon said, "I actually found myself drinking more as we filmed various contents leading up to the release, with soju appearing in them. I have memories of getting tipsy after a long time, and it felt really good," adding, "In our movie, we introduce the top soju, and I hope it gets released so that people can taste it more."
Meanwhile, "Big Deal" is set to be released on the 30th.
