(Following interview②) Kim Hee-won, an actor from 'Hi-Five,' mentioned the tears of fellow actor Lee Jae-in during her stage greeting.
Kim Hee-won conducted an interview on the afternoon of the 28th in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. During this meeting, he talked with domestic reporters about the upcoming release of the movie 'Hi-Five' (directed by Kang Hyeong-cheol, provided/distributed by NEW, produced by Annapurna Pictures).
'Hi-Five' is a comic action film depicting the story of five individuals who accidentally gain different superpowers through organ transplants and meet those who seek their abilities. Kim Hee-won plays the role of 'Yak-seon,' who, after receiving a liver transplant, gains and heals the pain of others merely by touching them.
In particular, Kim Hee-won became close to fellow actor Lee Jae-in while working on 'Hi-Five,' beyond age and gender. Kim Hee-won noted, "I play 'LoL' with Jae-in. We still play together these days," and laughed while saying, "For a movie like this, there isn't much time to wait. We talk about various things together. We end up discussing, 'It's boring,' 'What do you do when you're bored?' After the film ended, although a bit of time passed, we saw each other often online."
He mentioned, "My role tier is Bronze. I started from Bronze, and later, when Iron was introduced, I was worried about dropping to Iron, but I've maintained it. Jae-in is worse than I am. Even though we're on the same team, I've never won against them. They bring their friends along. When we lose three games, we don't say, 'Shall we play another match?" and he laughed.
Earlier, during the VIP premiere, Lee Jae-in showed tears during her stage greeting, evoking sympathy. Kim Hee-won said, "I asked her after the screening during the gathering why she cried. She said, 'I don't know.' That day she was introducing herself as 'This is Lee Jae-in,' and she cried. I told her, 'You can't cry during the stage greeting,' but she still cried," expressing his concern.
In fact, Lee Jae-in is known to have eagerly awaited 'Hi-Five' for four years after filming. Following her impressive performance in the 2019 movie 'Svaha,' there were expectations that she would quickly rise to prominence in Chungmuro through 'Hi-Five,' so industry insiders could not hide their disappointment at the delayed release.
In this regard, Kim Hee-won stated, "I thought to myself, 'I should maintain such a pure heart.' There was a young friend who said during a wrap party after a play that they would never act again. They were just ten years old and couldn't stand the thought of everything ending in an instant. Watching Jae-in cry made me feel that emotion again. Filming and releasing a movie is not a common occurrence. We worked so hard to be cast and tried so hard to perform well, and when the result comes out perfectly, it seems right to feel moved. But I began to wonder why I had never been moved before and developed that pure heart. Jae-in truly is pure," he said emphatically.
In particular, Kim Hee-won remarked, "At that time, as Jae-in was crying on stage, I noticed a woman in the audience who was also crying. They were crying so much that I thought, 'That's definitely a mother.' There were indeed parents sitting in the audience, and there was someone who was crying so much that it seemed 100% like a mother. When I asked, it turned out she really was a mother. She was crying a lot, and I worried about whether she could watch with that heart."
He continued, "Moreover, crying spreads, doesn't it? The director at the corner also turned around and cried, and the father was looking at the distant mountains and crying. Jae-in's friends were doing the same. They wiped their tears. That coffin was particularly like that. Seeing that, I honestly got a bit teary-eyed myself," and expressed, "It was a moving experience. We worked so hard and desperately. Finally, it's being released."
'Hi-Five' will be released in theaters nationwide on the 30th.
