Actor Kim Hee-won of 'Hi-Five' cautiously shared his thoughts about Yoo Ah-in's screen time in the film.
Kim Hee-won conducted an interview on the afternoon of the 28th in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul. During this time, he talked with domestic reporters about the upcoming film 'Hi-Five' (directed by Kang Hyung-chul, provided/distributed by NEW, produced by Annapurna Pictures).
'Hi-Five' is a comedic action film depicting the story of five individuals who, after accidentally gaining different superpowers through organ transplants, meet those who seek to exploit their abilities. Kim Hee-won plays the role of 'Yak-seon,' who, after receiving a liver transplant, can absorb others' pain and heal them just by touching.
Notably, 'Hi-Five' is set to be released after seven years of preparation by director Kang Hyung-chul. During this time, there was also the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and controversies surrounding actor Yoo Ah-in's drug allegations also loomed large.
As an important character, Yoo Ah-in's role in the film could not be completely edited out. There are concerns about public backlash regarding this situation. However, Kim Hee-won cautiously responded, "I hope you see it only as a character."
Kim Hee-won talked about the time spent waiting for the film's release, joking, "I was playing Roll with Jae-in," but also expressed a strong belief in 'Hi-Five', saying, "It would make no sense not to be released."
He emphasized, "The film is truly a work with so many people involved. I hope you can enjoy Yoo Ah-in's role as 'Gi-dong' and watch it lightly and joyfully. It's a really fun film that you can enjoy easily."
'Hi-Five' is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on the 30th.
