Cho Yi-hyun, Choo Young-Woo, and Choo Ja-hyun bring chilling yet thrilling character performances in "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy."
The new tvN drama "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy," which will premiere on June 23, 2025 (Monday), is directed by Kim Yong-wan, written by Yang Ji-hoon, and produced by CJ ENM in collaboration with Studio Dragon and DEXTER Pictures. The team revealed character posters on the 27th featuring Park Sung-a (played by Cho Yi-hyun), Bae Gyeon-woo (played by Choo Young-Woo), and Yeom-hwa (played by Choo Ja-hyun), showcasing their stunning auras.
"Gyeonwoo and the Fairy" is based on a popular webtoon of the same name and depicts a romantic story of a boy destined to die and a MZ shaman girl who tries to prevent it, unfolding a free-spirited first love among eighteen-year-olds. The story follows high school shaman Park Sung-a, who defies fate for her first love, and Bae Gyeon-woo, who reverses his destiny through the ordinary happiness she brings him. The diverse episodes featuring K-ghosts, each with unique stories and personalities, are expected to add extra allure. Most importantly, the collaboration between director Kim Yong-wan, known for his excellent directing skills across various genres such as "Windfall" and "The Method," and writer Yang Ji-hoon excites drama fans even further.
As expectations rise with every reveal, the unusual temple poster featuring Cho Yi-hyun, Choo Young-Woo, and Choo Ja-hyun piques curiosity even more. During the day, Park Sung-a leads a double life as a high school student and, at night, as a shaman. Her mysterious aura captures attention. From the moment she sees her ideal type, Bae Gyeon-woo, entering the temple upside down, she struggles to prevent his misfortune. The phrase "a girl who does everything to save him from death" adds to the anticipation of Park Sung-a's formidable quest to alter Bae Gyeon-woo's fate.
The character poster of Bae Gyeon-woo, who is instantly captivated by Park Sung-a, is also intriguing. Standing upside down in the temple, Bae Gyeon-woo's indifferent yet somewhat sad gaze suggests the struggles of his difficult life filled with misfortune. The boy, born with a deathly fate, may defy his destiny alongside Park Sung-a, and their formidable first love awaits.
Meanwhile, the aura of Yeom-hwa, a shaman who became a ghost to survive, is also distinctive. Her chilling gaze, watching the connection between Park Sung-a and Bae Gyeon-woo through the crack of the door, sends shivers down spines. Yeom-hwa, who enchants the weak like a ghost, is a shaman who has chosen evil while hiding deep-seated scars. The intertwining stories of Park Sung-a, who tries her utmost to save Bae Gyeon-woo born with a deathly fate, and Yeom-hwa, who chose to become a ghost to survive, draw attention.
On the other hand, the new tvN drama "Gyeonwoo and the Fairy" will premiere on June 23, 2025 (Monday) at 8:50 p.m.
