Actress Lee Jae-In shed tears at the premiere of her new film 'Hi-Five.'
On the 26th, a press screening and media conference for the movie 'Hi-Five' were held at the CGV Yongsan I'Park Mall in Seoul. Attendees included director Kang Hyung-Chul, leading actors Lee Jae-In, Ahn Jae-Hong, Ra Mi-Ran, Kim Hee-Won, Oh Jung-Se, and Park Jin-Young.
In particular, Lee Jae-In attended a private screening for close friends and staff after the event, where she shed the tears she had been holding back.
Lee Jae-In said, "I am Lee Jae-In, who plays the role of Wan-Seo in the movie 'Hi-Five,'" bowing at a 90-degree angle, and added, "This felt like my own theater. My mom, dad, siblings, and all my loved ones are here..." before being overcome with emotion and bursting into tears.
She continued to sob, saying, "I am just so glad to show you the movie..." and emotionally pleaded, "Please enjoy our movie. We really worked hard on it."
Senior actor Ahn Jae-Hong, who received the microphone, noted, "Above all, it was truly an honor to be with Jae-In, a treasure born from Korea," and encouraged the others by saying, "Let's all shout out for Lee Jae-In!"
'Hi-Five' (directed by Kang Hyung-Chul, distributed by NEW, produced by Annapurna Films) is a comic action film about five individuals who inadvertently gain different superpowers through organ transplants and encounter those who seek to exploit their abilities. Lee Jae-In performed passionately as Wan-Seo, a taekwondo girl with extraordinary strength.
All filming wrapped up in 2021, but the release was delayed due to post-production work and the COVID-19 pandemic. During this period, the controversy surrounding lead actor Yoo Ah-In's drug case also erupted, leading to the film finally being released this year after four years.
In particular, Lee Jae-In emerged as the first protagonist in the film, essentially being the core character driving the story. Although they filmed 'Hi-Five' during high school, the release was postponed, and she is now presenting it as an adult. After initially unveiling the work that day, she shared her heartfelt emotions in front of her beloved family and friends and was seen crying intensely.
Meanwhile, director Kang Hyung-Chul commented on Yoo Ah-In's participation while waiting for the Supreme Court's ruling, saying, "(Our work) is not just one movie. Many people have dedicated a significant part of their lives to this and made a lot of effort. As you can see, I believe this is a film that brilliant actors have greatly contributed to. I would dare to say this is a movie filled with time and effort sincerely. A genuine film."
He also emphasized, "There is the joy and delight of the shining actors' performances and the enjoyment of the film itself. If there is concern regarding the Yoo Ah-In risk, I am confident that it will be sufficiently offset."
'Hi-Five,' a summer tentpole production, will be released on the 30th.
