Lee Young-pyo proved his qualifications as a leader with his extraordinary fishing skills on 'It's Nice to Take a Break.'
The 49th episode of the MBC variety show 'It's Nice to Take a Break' (abbreviated as 'ITB') aired on the 26th, featuring leader Lee Young-pyo and workers Jo Hye-ryeon, Jo Woo-jong, Kang Jae-jun, and chef Jung Ho-young managing a restaurant on a deserted island. According to Nielsen Korea, the broadcast topped both the national household ratings and the 2049 ratings, solidifying its position as the leading Monday variety show.
In this episode of 'ITB,' chef Jung Ho-young successfully caught high-quality ingredients, the hairy crabs, that he had eagerly awaited for about a year. Jung Ho-young said, "When you go to a restaurant, they charge 80,000 won for each crab, and those who have tasted it claim it's the most delicious among crabs," raising the workers' expectations.
However, at first, the hairy crabs were hard to catch, dampening the atmosphere. At that moment, when leader Lee Young-pyo stepped up from the back to the front, the crabs began to be caught. Even 'one trap, three hairy crabs' came out in succession, which thrilled everyone. Lee Young-pyo confidently asserted, "Hyung Jeong-hwan can't do this," while An Jung-hwan, watching, casually laughed, saying, "Feel free to criticize me, but I hope we catch a lot."
Thanks to the plentiful harvest, a hairy crab party was held on the boat. From the freshly prepared hairy crab sashimi by chef Jung Ho-young to the steamed hairy crab and hairy crab noodles made by the captain, it was a feast of hairy crab dishes so exquisite that it was hard to even estimate their market price, tantalizing the viewers' taste buds. Additionally, the workers beamed with pride as they generously treated themselves to both hairy crabs and flatfish as wages.
In the sea urchin digging segment, Jo Hye-ryeon, who emerged as the 'golden hand' in place of Lee Young-pyo, who faced humiliation by not catching even one on the first day, took charge of catching the sea urchins. However, seeing the unreliable sea urchins brought by Lee Young-pyo and Kang Jae-jun, who brought back a small hermit crab with nothing to eat, Jo Hye-ryeon decided to dive in herself.
After Jo Hye-ryeon dove in, everyone began to catch one sea creature after another, and the atmosphere changed as they even caught the abalone that chef Jung Ho-young had longed for. Towards the end of the segment, Lee Young-pyo, who had been silent alone, finally caught something. That something was a flatfish. Everyone cheered as they saw Lee Young-pyo, who had caught a fish, not a easy hermit crab or clam, with his bare hands. In response, Jo Hye-ryeon said, "Lee Young-pyo has beaten An Jung-hwan," to which An Jung-hwan murmured, "That's a crazy flatfish," bringing smiles to the group.
As the restaurant opening time arrived, chef Jung Ho-young was the first to create a dish called 'hairy crab set' with the eagerly awaited ingredient, hairy crab. To do this, Lee Young-pyo, Jo Hye-ryeon, and Kang Jae-jun all dedicated themselves to cleaning the hairy crabs. After their efforts, they completed steamed hairy crabs and fried rice with hairy crab innards. The completed 'hairy crab set,' accompanied by a sauce made from sea cucumber innards to enhance the umami, made viewers' mouths water.
Next, Jo Woo-jong, who had attended a cooking academy for 'ITB,' prepared seafood stir-fry. Additionally, a sunny onion flake was added on top as a special touch. Finally, a bowl of noodle soup with flatfish sashimi piled high was served at the customers' tables. It was truly a perfect course that allowed one to feel the essence of the spring sea.
After running the restaurant, Lee Young-pyo shared heartfelt respect, saying, "I always thought Hyung Jeong-hwan was slacking off, but I realized how hard he works." An Jung-hwan, who had observed Lee Young-pyo's efforts, noted, "Lee Young-pyo is good at wrapping things up like this," and praised Lee Young-pyo for recognizing others.
In the preview revealed towards the end of the broadcast, the sons of Yangpyeong and close friends Kim Dae-ho and Lee Sugeun were depicted facing a crisis of estrangement on the deserted island, adding to the intrigue. 'It's Nice to Take a Break' airs every Monday night at 9 p.m.
