On the 26th, a story submitter appeared on the KBS Joy show "Ask Anything" (hereafter referred to as Ask Anything), episode 318, saying they were struggling due to their parents' nagging.
The 20-year-old submitter said they are majoring in practical music and vocals. The submitter stated, "I have a lot of interest in idols. I buy more than three idol albums. In different versions. My parents nag me about buying the same ones."
The submitter continued, expressing a strong interest in makeup, saying, "I buy sunscreen and a palette from Olivex. My parents ask why I don't buy it at Daiex at a lower price, questioning why I spend so much. It is true that I spend a lot, but I only buy it when there's a discount." The submitter explained, "My parents ask if I'm doing bridal makeup. My self-esteem regarding my appearance has dropped, so I started to wear makeup to improve it."
The submitter mentioned, "I attend an academy for my vocal major, which costs 450,000 won. My parents support that. There are also recording classes that cost about 130,000 won a month. I think of it as an investment in my future, but my parents question why I need to take classes at another academy, which is so frustrating."
The submitter expressed frustration, saying, "Other friends are adults, so they go drinking and visit clubs. I practice late at the academy, but my parents don't understand."
Additionally, the submitter shared, "I get compared a lot to my older brother. His assets are around 100 million won. He is 25 years old. I spend all my allowance, so my parents tell me, 'You are wasting your money.'"
Seo Jang-hoon noted, "Your future seems to depend on how hard you work and practice. Parents often don't trust their children. It's natural for parents to worry. There are many things that don't make sense. You don't have to buy albums to listen to music. From the parents' perspective, they have a say in the matter." He added, "I don't think makeup is that necessary. Your skin doesn't look bad. You might think it's excessive. Parents can nag about that."
Seo Jang-hoon expressed, "I tell the parents too. They need to recognize that it's not just about having fun; you need to acknowledge their efforts. Comparisons are not helpful. Comparing to my brother makes me feel more insecure. There's no need for that." He continued, "Everyone needs to compromise a little. That's how you can live a long and happy life together."
Seo Jang-hoon provided realistic advice to the submitter who mentioned they had played the piano in the past, asking, "What do you really need, foundation or the piano?" He continued, "How much effort is required to become a star? Many people dedicate everything and still don't make it on TV. There's no time to buy cosmetics and such."
