Actress Lim Seong-eun's husband has strongly denied allegations that he is a $20 billion real estate scammer.
Lim Seong-eun's husband, Lee Chang-seob, chairman of Seokjeong Urban Development, strongly denied the recent allegations that he was a '$20 billion real estate scammer' in an interview with a media outlet on the 27th.
On the morning of the 26th, another media outlet reported that Lim Seong-eun's husband was referred to as an 'APT. project scammer.' In this regard, it was claimed that he robbed ordinary people through real estate fraud, deceived investors by pretending that commercial leases were complete, and misappropriated the agency fees while overseeing local housing cooperatives. The luxurious cars he owns with Lim Seong-eun, including a Bentley and a Maybach, were emphasized as products of this immorality.
However, in the interview, Lee stated, "Except for the fact that I am remarried and have a criminal record, everything else is false." He claimed that the reports emerged just a week after his wedding to Lim Seong-eun on the 17th and suggested there was malicious intent behind them.
Currently, Lim Seong-eun's husband, who is the chairman of seven real estate-related corporations including a local housing cooperative, acknowledged that there could be additional payments due to increased construction material costs and labor costs along with extended construction periods. However, he stated that he did not misuse even '1 won' through thorough accounting. He mentioned ongoing new APT. projects by major construction companies in Chungbuk Osong and Gyeonggi Osan, explaining, "While construction is underway, malicious articles were published as if I took the sales revenues without proper actions."
However, he did acknowledge some past criminal records, stating that due to business disputes with the opposite party involving lawsuits, he inadvertently violated housing law, outdoor advertising law, and labor standards law. In this regard, Lim Seong-eun's husband said, "I have never committed theft or engaged in shameless acts; I feel wronged," and added that "conflicts arise due to entanglements in interests while doing business."
In particular, he revealed that years ago, while preparing for a $30 billion loan from a financial institution, he met a representative of an interior company, H, and received $5 million as a consultant fee while proceeding. However, due to circumstances on the other party's side, he had to give up the loan and ended up with debts he needed to repay. He stated that he has repaid about $3 million to date, and the remaining interest and penalties have increased to $12 million, leading to emotional disputes.
Lee also mentioned his wife's reaction, stating, "She feels even more wronged and bewildered than I do about the malicious attacks." He emphasized that he has sufficiently explained the remarriage, and he will not allow damage to her image just because she is a celebrity. In fact, he has sued the media that first reported him as a real estate scammer for illegal filming, invasion of privacy, and stalking laws, as they took unauthorized photos of his private wedding ceremony. Mr. H has also been sued as a party to the debt issue.
Regarding allegations that their honeymoon destination was Jeju Island due to a travel ban, Lee explained that it was due to their busy schedules and that they had planned to go on an official honeymoon to Europe, having already booked flight tickets before the wedding.
Lim Seong-eun, who married him, debuted in 2002 through the KBS 2TV drama 'Always Thumping.' She gained recognition as the 'dimple goddess' while appearing in the KBS 2TV entertainment program 'Mountain Lodge Meeting - War of Roses.' Since then, she has appeared in movies such as 'High School Ghost Story: The Second Story' and dramas like 'Hit,' 'Yeon Gaesomun,' 'White Tower,' 'Cheongdam-dong Scandal,' 'Orange Marmalade,' and 'Spring Night.'
