Actress Hwang Jung-eum concluded her divorce lawsuit with her husband Lee Young-don through a court mediation decision, bringing an end to their 10-year marriage. Recently, facing allegations of embezzlement worth around 4.3 billion won, Hwang Jung-eum, who has been at the center of controversy, has entered a new phase by resolving her divorce and legal issues.
Hwang Jung-eum's agency, Y1 Entertainment, stated in an official position on the 26th, 'As of May 26, 2025, we inform you that the divorce lawsuit of Ms. Hwang Jung-eum has been amicably concluded with the confirmation of the family court's mediation decision,' adding, 'Thus, the divorce has been formally established.'
Earlier, on the 23rd, reports about Hwang Jung-eum's real estate provisional seizure brought the divorce issue to the surface once again. In response, the agency stated, 'The provisional seizure was a measure taken by both parties to protect their assets during the process of organizing shared property in the divorce lawsuit,' and explained, 'It is something that can typically occur during divorce proceedings, and now that the divorce lawsuit has been concluded, the provisional seizure will be lifted.'
They also expressed their regret, saying, 'We apologize for not being able to provide a detailed explanation before the article was published just before the conclusion of the lawsuit.'
Hwang Jung-eum ended her marital relationship by reaching an agreement through court mediation after two attempts at divorce mediation with her ex-husband.
Hwang Jung-eum married businessman Lee Young-don, a former professional golfer, in 2016 and has two sons. After repeating periods of separation and reconciliation, she entered divorce proceedings again in 2023 and ultimately concluded the legal marriage.
Hwang Jung-eum raised concerns among fans as she faced issues regarding asset partitioning and corporation-related trials concurrently with her divorce lawsuit. Recently, it was revealed that she is on trial for embezzling around 4.34 billion won from a one-person planning agency established as a family corporation. This corporation is 100% owned by Hwang Jung-eum, who reportedly lost about 4.2 billion won after investing this embezzled amount in cryptocurrency.
According to a representative from her current agency, Y1 Entertainment, on the 20th, 'While we cannot disclose specific amounts, Hwang Jung-eum has repaid a substantial portion of the funds that she withdrew from the former company in the form of advance payments by disposing of personal assets,' adding, 'Procedures are also underway to settle the remaining unpaid amounts, and we plan to conclude the process to the best of our ability.'
According to a report, Hwang Jung-eum has repaid about two-thirds of the embezzled amount so far, with the remaining repayment amount being approximately 1 billion won, and she plans to repay it quickly. Facing worries from fans due to the lengthy divorce lawsuit and related asset issues, the agency added, 'We will do our utmost to ensure that the legal case related to Ms. Hwang Jung-eum's personal corporation is concluded as soon as possible.'
