The casting of musical actor Jeon Ho-jun, who is embroiled in a personal life controversy, has been temporarily suspended.
On the 26th, the theater company Baekui stated on its official social media account, "We sincerely apologize for causing concern regarding the recent controversies involving one of our participating performers."
Baekui stated, "We are currently verifying the facts and have decided to temporarily suspend this performer's casting until the truth of the matter is clearly established," and added, "We take this matter seriously and promise to provide transparent updates as additional facts are confirmed."
Jeon Ho-jun was initially scheduled to appear in the play 'The Tonight Show,' set to open in July, but was embroiled in an exposure controversy with an ex-girlfriend on the 24th.
Born in 2000, Jeon Ho-jun is a musical actor who has appeared in productions such as 'Chicago,' 'Notre-Dame de Paris,' 'Kinky Boots,' 'Wicked,' and 'Mamma Mia.' A graduate of the Department of Dance at Chung-Ang University, he is known to have obtained certifications in somatic Pilates, sports coaching, classical Pilates teaching, Evolution Flow Yoga, rehabilitation exercise expertise, weightlifting, and Inside Flow Yoga.
Having worked as a musical actor for over 17 years, he had to leave during a performance of 'Mamma Mia' after suffering an injury that ruptured his anterior cruciate ligament. After six months of rehabilitation post-surgery, he recovered through Pilates and is currently balancing his roles as both a musical actor and a trainer.
A 14-year-younger individual, who identified herself as Jeon Ho-jun's ex-girlfriend, claimed through an online community that she and Jeon Ho-jun had been in a relationship for about a year. She further alleged that Jeon Ho-jun assaulted her, resulting in a three-week recovery diagnosis, and that she suffered significant financial damage.
According to her, Jeon Ho-jun made her bear all expenses including performance support and dating costs, and extorted around 10 million won under the pretext of marriage for items like a mobile phone, luxury scarf, and necklace. She also claimed to have paid around 5 million won for airline tickets and accommodation for a trip to Thailand, and alleged that she was infected with herpes and had to pay 1 million won monthly for Pilates related to a miscarriage issue.
In response to A's allegations, Jeon Ho-jun asserted, "This is entirely unfounded, and I will take a firm stance against it." According to an interview Jeon Ho-jun had with a media outlet, when he ended the relationship about three months ago, A showed extreme emotional behavior, making it difficult to finalize their separation. He also mentioned that A had previously said she was assaulted by another boyfriend, who underwent police investigation at the time.
Regarding the assault allegations, Jeon Ho-jun claimed that A attempted to enter his home by entering a password at around 4:30 a.m., and that the situation escalated beyond control during the process of stopping her, leading him to call the police. During this process, he sustained a head injury due to A's resistance, resulting in mutual assault. Jeon Ho-jun publicly shared what appears to be a police-taken photo of his bleeding face and an audio recording of the incident on social media. The recording contains sounds of Jeon Ho-jun saying, "Don't hit me," and "I'll call the police," along with A's screams, which caused shock.
