Kang Mal-geum said, "As soon as I saw 'When Life Gives You Tangerines,' I knew it would do well. Even though my episode is short, the set design was truly amazing. They implemented everything up to the second floor," expressing her confidence. Oh Min-ae noted, "Everyone was working like carpenters on set every day," verifying her statement.
Oh Min-ae and Kang Mal-geum were characters standing at opposite ends concerning IU and Park Bo-gum. Although it was a simple episode, it formed a solid segment. The two engaged in a fierce struggle. Choi Hwa-jung asked, "I heard there was no scene in the script where you grabbed each other's hair." Kang Mal-geum replied, "It was truly an impolite reaction," cautiously looking at Oh Min-ae. In the actual rehearsal, they hadn't grabbed each other's hair, but Kang Mal-geum unexpectedly did so during the actual scene.
Oh Min-ae stated, "Kang Mal-geum has such incredible energy that I couldn't help but follow suit. The character was supposed to be massaging her feet. I was looking for the children, wearing summer sandals in the winter, wandering all the way to Busan. So I thought, why not, and grabbed her hair," impressing everyone as an actress.
Kang Mal-geum was an actress with the charm of commanding scenes not only in "When Life Gives You Tangerines" but also in various films and dramas. Choi Hwa-jung recalled, "I didn't know Kang Mal-geum was an actress. She was so natural that I didn't realize she was acting. I didn't know she was such a perfect actress. I thought she would become a great actor. She did so well."
Kim Ho-young remarked, "She was a treasure of Korean cinema," and Choi Hwa-jung noted, "At that time, she was a six-time winner at the film festival."
Kim Ho-young asked about recent developments, saying, "I heard you have been continuously working." Kang Mal-geum replied, "That's right. I am currently filming a historical drama, and I will be filming writer Park Hae-young's 'Everyone is Fighting Their Own Worthlessness' in the second half of the year," indicating her busy schedule.

Kim Geum-soon added, "I really wanted to play the role of a haenyeo (female diver). I had five meetings. But they said I needed to lose 20 kg to be a haenyeo, and that didn't work out."
Oh Min-ae mentioned, "I also did everything to play Jenny's mother," saying she eventually ended up playing the mother-in-law role. Kang Mal-geum's expression became peculiar. Choi Hwa-jung and Kim Ho-young probed, "Did you perhaps not audition?" Kang Mal-geum stated, "I did not audition. I said I would definitely do it," reinforcing her determination to participate.
