Amid the allegations of school violence against actress Go Min-shi, her agency stated that the claims are "base-less." Recently, it was revealed that she donated 100 million won to assist marginalized children and youth, leading to calls for a cautious approach to the controversy surrounding the allegations.
Earlier, a post titled "The school violence victims of actress Go OO" was uploaded on an online community. The author claimed to be a former middle school classmate of actress A and exposed that she had engaged in serious school violence, including extortion and verbal abuse, mocking disabled students, during their school years. In particular, the author emphasized, "I do not want any apology or compensation. I simply demand a halt to her activities to prevent further harm," which caused a stir.
As the post spread, netizens identified actress Go Min-shi based on the clues posted without mentioning her name, including past photos and her name prior to a legal name change. In response, the agency strongly refuted this, stating, "After investigation, we found it to be completely untrue and merely a one-sided claim."
Amid this situation, details of Go Min-shi's philanthropy are being re-examined. On the 18th, the international development cooperation NGO Global Foundation announced that Go Min-shi donated a total of 100 million won for domestic children and youth as well as youth preparing for independence. The donation is to be divided into 50 million won for supporting vulnerable children and youth and 50 million won for supporting youth preparing for independence, which will be used for living support, education, and cultural experiences.
A representative from Global Foundation noted, "Go Min-shi has been practicing warm sharing every year and has continuously spread her positive influence," adding, "This donation will also serve as a message of hope for many." In fact, she has also been involved in donation activities for various groups, including single parents and elderly individuals living alone, until recently.
However, amid escalating controversy, on the 26th, Go Min-shi's agency, Mystic Story, conveyed to OSEN, "We have already recognized the claims of school violence posted on the online community, and according to the actress herself, there is absolutely no truth to the allegations." As the agency strongly denies the allegations, there is growing opinion that a more cautious approach is required. Along with the actress's usual activities, her records of philanthropy, including donations, are also being highlighted, emphasizing the need for clear verification of the facts and a neutral perspective rather than jumping to conclusions.
Meanwhile, Go Min-shi is currently appearing in the Genie TV original drama "Tastefully Yours."
