The group KickFlip has returned wearing refreshing school looks, hinting at a summer uniquely their own.
KickFlip held a showcase on the afternoon of the 26th at YES24 Live Hall in Gwangjin-gu, Seoul, to celebrate the release of their mini-album 'Kick Out, Flip Now!' and shared stories about the new album.
KickFlip, which debuted in January, announced a rapid comeback with the new release 'Kick Out, Flip Now!' after just four months. Donghwa noted, "I think we could achieve good results thanks to our fans. After finishing our activities, we talked about how we should repay our fans' love with even more wonderful stages and continue to move forward."
In addition, Gyehun said, "As I finished the first album, I gained confidence that it was right not to give up the path I chose. My goal for this second album activity is to achieve first place on music shows. If we achieve first place, I want to present the stage in an acapella format."
KickFlip conveys their determination to break the mold and turn the tables through this album 'Kick Out, Flip Now!' as they solidify their presence as a 'K-Pop super rookie.'
The members participated in writing and composing some of the songs, reflecting the true feelings of the boys, and particularly Amaru proved his abilities by independently writing, composing, and arranging the fifth track 'Complicated!!'.
Donghwa said, "We aimed to create an album that would imprint KickFlip's identity, so the members voluntarily participated in the album, and I was very happy when I heard the music. I really like 'Complicated,' which Maru wrote and composed. I thank the members for giving us such a wonderful song."
Amaru expressed gratitude, saying, "I had a time before my debut where I was dedicated to composing and wrote more than 100 songs. This was one of those songs. Since it was a song that contained my efforts, I felt attached to it. I was proud to hear the members praising it when they sang it. I also thank master Jeong for playing the guitar."
The title track 'FREEZE' is a dance song based on hybrid pop punk that modernly combines 90s guitar riffs with glitch hop and hyperpop synths. It depicts KickFlip's cheerful rebellion as they race toward their secret hideout. Donghyun participated in composition while Gyehun, Donghwa, and Minje participated in writing lyrics.
Donghyun, who participated in composition, explained, "Even while making the song, I thought it suited our team very well. I was very happy to be fortunate enough to participate in the title track. It was a great opportunity. When I recorded it and listened to the music, I was confident that I would be able to present KickFlip's summer."
When asked what advice they received from Park Jin-Young, the head of JYP, the members remarked that he praised Donghyun's singing, saying, "All the members have solid fundamentals, and he hopes it will be a stage that well represents your colors."
Kay-Joo added, "This time, Producer Park Jin-Young said he watched our first album activities well and encouraged us to do our best in the second album, saying that we could have a meal together if time allows, so we're looking forward to it."
KickFlip is set to make its presence felt as the next generation of stage artists by participating in 'Lollapalooza Chicago' and 'Summer Sonic Bangkok 2025' this summer.
Gyehun stated, "Since Lollapalooza is a festival featuring many artists, we are preparing with the mindset of doing even better. Our goal is to let many people know about our music and stories through this opportunity." Donghyun expressed confidence, saying, "It is an honor to perform at major festivals like Lollapalooza and Summer Sonic. We are preparing enthusiastically with overflowing motivation, so you should definitely look forward to it."
Finally, KickFlip shared, "While the first album was a chance to show what kind of team we are, this album contains our direction moving forward. We believe that our irresistible naturalness and cheerful energy are our charms. We will present an energetic and cheerful stage."
