Actor Lee Eol (real name Lee Eung-deok) marks the 3rd anniversary of his death.
The late Lee Eol passed away in 2022 after battling esophageal cancer. He was 58 years old.
Having debuted in 1983 with a theater performance, the late actor was active across both dramas and films. Recently, he played a role in dramas such as 'Watcher,' 'It's Okay to Not Be Okay,' '18 Again,' 'Voice Season 4,' and 'Live.' In particular, he received critical acclaim from devoted viewers for his performance as the Dreams manager in the SBS drama 'Stove League.'
According to his agency at the time, he underwent treatment for esophageal cancer following the conclusion of OCN's 'Voice' Season 4, which aired in 2021. Ultimately, he could not overcome the illness, prompting a sense of sadness.
Afterward, Lee Eol made a brief but impactful special appearance in director Kim Tae-yong's film 'Wonderland,' capturing attention.
In the film, he played the role of a warm father encountered by 'Harry' (Jung Yu-mi), the chief planner of 'Wonderland' who lost her parents during childhood. The late actor's appearance captivated viewers.
Director Kim Tae-yong disclosed the casting reason, saying, "Although I haven't worked with him, when I imagined a generous Korean father, the first person that came to mind was actor Lee Eol." He added, "He is an actor with great eyes and expressions," sharing his feelings about working together. Appearing as an AI father who loves poetry and is curious about his daughter's dating life, Lee Eol's kind smile visible beyond 'Wonderland' screened evoked deep emotions in viewers.
