In 'Brave Detectives 4,' the story of detectives who solved mysterious murder cases with determination was revealed.
On the 23rd, the 35th episode of T-Cast E Channel's 'Brave Detectives 4' (directed by Lee Ji-sun) featured Detective Chief Jang Hyun-soo of the Daejeon Yuseong Police Station's Violent Crimes Team 2, former Commissioner Yoon Wae-chul of the Scientific Investigation Team (KCSI), and Detective Kim Jin-soo, who unfolded their investigation logs.
The first case introduced on the broadcast began with a report of a burned body found under a tunnel during road construction. The body and the surrounding floor were all in a charred state, and it was only confirmed that the victim was a small-statured woman. An autopsy revealed two stab wounds on the victim's right side, and male semen was detected in the body. Through pieces of clothing, the victim was identified as a woman in her mid-20s who had contacted after seeing a job advertisement in a lifestyle information magazine and was heading to the interview location but did not return home.
Amid this, another woman's body was discovered in the same town, adding to the shock. The second victim was found bound with tape and had plastic wrapped around her head and was revealed to have been a woman preparing for employment who had applied to the same company as the first victim.
The investigation team tracked the contact information for the company registered in the lifestyle information magazine and found a suspicious number that had swapped from another company's corporate mobile phone and the local office number. It was revealed that the mobile phone number had only been used for 4 days. The investigation team attempted to find clues through the mobile phone's base station, but they had to review about 720,000 call records due to the movement across 13 base stations. After persistent investigation, it was revealed that a woman in her early 40s named Park (alias) was the registered owner, and the actual user was her younger brother, a man in his mid-30s named Park. He had a criminal record of four previous offenses, including robbery and rape, and at the time, he was already apprehended in Incheon for robbery and attempted sexual assault. Park had attempted to approach the women under the pretext of seeking a tutor for his daughter in response to an advertisement about a woman looking for a tutoring student.
The apprehended Park claimed he was only responsible for bringing women to his accomplice, but this turned out to be a lie. He had accumulated debts of about 300 million won and had planned to take out a loan in the name of the first victim, but after saying he had no money, he committed the crime, and when he couldn't obtain money from the second victim in the same manner, he killed her. He also stated that he murdered the first victim because she knew his face. Park was sentenced to life imprisonment, and it was revealed a month ago that he had lured a counselor, raped her, and then killed her, adding more shock.
The second case introduced by KCSI began with a report that a restaurant owner was found lying on the ground bleeding. The reporter was the victim's classmate, who, unable to reach them, found the restaurant and saw the victim lying there bleeding. The victim, who was found dead, had a towel knotted around their neck, and there were several stab wounds at the center of their neck.
There were no witnesses, and due to the nature of the restaurant, it was challenging to secure fingerprints. The investigation team focused on the people around the victim. First, the classmate who reported the incident raised suspicion due to not being reachable for several hours without an urgent matter and finding the restaurant from a long distance, and it was also confirmed that a loan shark who had lent money to the victim had been looking for them recently.
Amid this, the presence of a man in his 40s, who had been accused twice of assault and threats by the victim, caught attention. He was the victim's ex-lover and had a total of six criminal offenses for assault, theft, and fraud. He was reported to have committed repeated assaults on the victim and was captured making threats to leak the victim's private photos and videos when she demanded to break up. The apprehended man claimed he went to see the victim because she did not answer his calls, and when he yelled for her to leave, he covered her mouth with a towel, which led to her choking, and he absurdly claimed that he had committed the crime with a kitchen knife that he inadvertently saw. However, this was false, and he eventually confessed to using a jackknife that he had prepared in advance, and blood was confirmed on the weapon. The court sentenced him to 15 years in prison.
