The beneficiary of 'Hospital Playlist'? Not only Jung Jun-won but also Shin Si A. Learning medical terminology from his grandfather, who was an internist, added depth to his acting as he smiled and said, "My grandfather was delighted that I got to portray a life lived as a doctor."
Shin Si A revealed during an interview after the finale of tvN's weekend drama 'Hospital Playlist' on the 20th at a café in Gangnam, Seoul, that she "studied a lot by observing at the hospital before filming and directly interviewing resident teachers." She continued, "I made an effort to acquire the knowledge that an obstetrics resident needs to know, and practiced suturing on models," explaining her detailed preparation process.
He notably said, "My grandfather was an internist, so whenever I asked about medical terms or situations, he always kindly explained them to me. He was very happy that I got to act as a doctor, having lived his life as a physician." He confessed, "Originally, my grandfather was the person I respected the most. Since he is healthy, I was able to have more conversations while working on this project."
Recently concluded 'Resident Playbook,' Shin Si A played the role of first-year obstetrics resident Pyo Nam-gyeong, leading the 'Eunggae' combination alongside Go Youn-jung, Kang Yoo-seok, and Han Ye-ji. Although she appears aloof and confident, she received acclaim for delicately portraying the Pyo Nam-gyeong character, who has a clumsy charm and a tearful inner self. This project is her first drama.
After debuting as the lead in the movie 'The Witch Part 2' with a competition ratio of 1,408:1, Shin Si A, who took on her first drama challenge, said, "I felt a strong sense of responsibility because I was a fan of Director Shin Won-ho's works and the 'Hospital Playlist' series, so I constantly pondered why I delivered certain lines as the character Pyo Nam-gyeong in this universe."
'Resident Playbook' was originally scheduled to be released last year, but its broadcast was delayed by over a year due to a collective strike by residents. Shin Si A said, "After filming 'The Witch,' I once waited for nearly two years. In the process of hitting rock bottom and rising again, I encountered 'Resident Playbook.' Knowing from a previous long hardship that there is an end, I felt confident this time. I was grateful for the time to wait." She smiled brightly.
