Actress Kim Nam-joo, known as the "Queen of Insight," has unveiled her 80-pyeong (approximately 2,640 square feet) mansion that she has carefully watched over for 20 years.
In the SBS Life program "Queen of Insight," which aired for the first time on the 22nd, actress Kim Nam-joo was depicted as she begins her solo variety show. Whenever she films a drama, she garners top buzz, selling out all sorts of cosmetics and fashion coordination. What kind of life lies behind her glamour? The public has been paying attention for a long time.
Despite being humble and down-to-earth, Kim Nam-joo noted, "I said I couldn't do YouTube, but I watch a lot of YouTube myself. Everyone has stopped watching TV and now seeks out content. It seems the trend has changed a lot. Should I give it a try? I wonder if people will recognize me these days?"
Kim Nam-joo started showing off her home right from the entrance, saying, "I don't have anything to brag about? This house that I have shared with my children for 20 years?" She mentioned, "When guests come over, I place flowers at the entrance to welcome them. Among lilies, it's the white lily. The language of flowers signifies good news," while revealing a house key placed on the entrance table, a bread case that she used for a mask, and a magic pen for returning packages.
Continuing into the living room, Kim Nam-joo remarked, "Isn't the house very tidy? I can't live like this," while laughing, "When raising the kids, the living room was cramped. There was a lot of clutter. But just yesterday, I cleaned it all up and moved it to that room over there."
The living room was filled with cushions and artwork that highlighted Kim Nam-joo's unique colors and choices, with ample light streaming in. She explained, "The land is wider than other dwellings. We couldn't tear down the frame, so we built it just as the old house was. Therefore, the house isn't very big. It's been 20 years since we built this house." She added, "The exterior is 20 years old, and the living room has had a few floor changes due to the kids. It has become worn, so we had to clean it and deal with some mold, so I redecorated it a bit."
Holding a gold-colored flower object, Kim Nam-joo said, "Does this flower look old? I received it from my husband Kim Seung-woo after I caused a scene for not celebrating Valentine's Day not long ago. I dislike gold flowers; I prefer pink or red."
She continued, "This is a hanbok I wore when my daughter turned one, made by teacher Park Sul-nyeo, and I have framed it here," noting that there are various works alongside the painting. When she reached a Western-style pavilion shaded by a garden, she commented, "Kim Seung-woo complained a lot when setting this up, but now he lies back comfortably on this sofa like an emperor. Then I feel like a maid," she said with a playful pout.
Kim Nam-joo revealed that the faucet from France and the green door, which took 8 months to import, were all gifts from Kim Seung-woo. She said, "That's why this house has a special meaning for me. Since getting married and raising children for 20 years, tiles have broken, and since it's a dwelling, it requires maintenance. But I'm very happy to enjoy the garden rather than moving away."
She expressed, "I feel sorry for Kim Seung-woo. During a variety show shoot, there was a mission to bring lunch boxes, but back then, I was busy making baby food, so I didn't make those dishes. So I packed a little at a time. But my husband enjoyed it."
