The 'Queen of Taste, Kim Nam-joo' was overwhelmed with thoughts of her mother.
During the filming of the first episode of the SBS Life new variety show 'The Queen of Taste, Kim Nam-joo', Kim Nam-joo revealed her home, where she has lived with her family for 20 years, for the first time on air and shared the traces of her mother scattered throughout the house.
On that day, while introducing the flowers and trees planted throughout the garden, Kim Nam-joo recalled, "My mother planted an apricot tree, a persimmon tree, and azaleas. At that time, I really disliked it. She would buy pots and bring them home, but to my young eyes, this grass looked messy."
She went on to say, "As I grew older and my mother reached an age where she can no longer go out... I think I will remember this when my mother passes away. I wish I had been happy with her when she liked things, or that we had gone shopping together. I often think of my mother when I go buy flowers. When I ask my mother to go with me to buy flowers, she says she won't go," growing tearful.
Kim Nam-joo expressed her gratitude while looking around the garden, stating, "My mother has done such a great job here."
Kim Nam-joo also shared anecdotes about her mother while introducing the coasters placed under various items around the house. She said, "My mother made this," adding, "Isn't this like a phone coaster from the 1980s? She made several of them. Now that my mother is elderly and doesn't have much to do, she sits here and keeps making these, but she's made so many that there's no place to put them. I'm really grateful, but I told her to stop."
Kim Nam-joo added, "My mother no longer knits. When I asked why she doesn't, she said her hands tremble. So this is such a memory," showing a tearful expression.
The revealed home of Kim Nam-joo boasted an interior that captures European sensibilities. Starting with a green door, the living room exuded warmth with white-toned furniture and various decorations, filled with diverse flowers and trees, offering a glimpse into Kim Nam-joo's taste.
Kim Nam-joo stated, "This is my first time publicly showing my house on a broadcast. A day like this has come for me." She continued, "I like old houses and classic things. This house has been built for 20 years. The exterior is 20 years old, and the living room has been repaired once or twice due to the kids… The floor and other parts were getting old, so I changed them to keep them clean."
'The Queen of Taste, Kim Nam-joo' is a project where Kim Nam-joo communicates with the public and shares everything about herself while broadening her taste. The first broadcast will air on the 22nd (Thursday) at 8:40 p.m., and prior to that, the same content will be first released on Kim Nam-joo's YouTube channel at 11:45 a.m. on the same day.
