The 'neighboring millionaire of Seo Jang-hoon' Milanonna showcased her outstanding prowess as a designer.
On the 21st, during the jointly produced 'Neighboring Millionaire' by EBS and E Channel, 'the hippest grandmother in South Korea,' Milanonna Jang Myung-sook, granted various stories.
Milanonna is famous as the first Korean Milan design student and a legend who flourished in the fashion industry in the 80s and 90s. She currently boasts 1 million subscribers and is active as a YouTuber.
On that day, Milanonna said, 'I oversaw all of the design for the opening ceremony of the 1986 Asian Games.' He recalled, 'It was the first major event in our country, so I incorporated our country's unique beauty. The feedback was very positive.'
In particular, she revealed that she became the first designer to receive design fees from the South Korean national contingency fund, drawing attention.
Milanonna noted, 'It was quite a thorny path because the times were different. There was an organizing committee, and I was commissioned to design, but they budgeted without including the design. I thought I should be treated as a designer. I requested a separate design fee, but initially, they seemed troubled. So I said, 'I will tear these clothes apart,' and the organizing committee responded that I should boast because I was the first to receive design fees from the national contingency fund.' She explained that she is bragging for the first time in 40 years.
The design fee that she received was said to be 5 million won. Milanonna stated, 'The salary for mid-level executives is 300,000 to 500,000 won. Compared to the effort I put in for a year, it wasn't a large sum. The organizing committee was trying to show their respect.'
Milanonna also noted that she worked at a large department store. He explained, 'In the 90s, import liberalization took place. So foreign brands started selling clothes in our country, and at the department store I worked at, there was a desire to launch an Italian luxury brand. However, there was no one to handle that job. The department store president was looking for someone, and I got caught in their radar.'
Milanonna mentioned, 'To put it plainly, my worth increased. As a representative of Korea, I went to Italy and negotiated with representatives of foreign brands,' boasting about her glamorous background and surprising everyone.
