Shin Si A revealed her efforts put into the character Pyo Nam-gyeong during an interview about the conclusion of the tvN weekend drama 'Resident Playbook' (hereinafter referred to as 'Resident Playbook'), saying, "Before filming, I actually went to the hospital to observe and interviewed the residents to study how doctors actually do things. I also practiced sewing at the operation area using a model."
She noted, "I tried to acquire the fundamental knowledge that obstetrics and gynecology residents need to know. I thought those details would make a difference, so I made a lot of effort to learn. I asked my grandfather, who is an internist, for medical terms and learned. He was very happy that I got to act in a place he has dedicated his life to. He is originally the person I respect the most. Since he is healthy, doing this drama led to more conversations with him," and smiled.
'Resident Playbook' takes place at Jongno Yulje Hospital, not the main Yulje Hospital from the 'Hospital Playlist' series, and depicts the lives of first-year obstetrics and gynecology residents. Shin Si A completed the first-year team with Go Youn-jung (as Oh Yi-young), Kang Yoo-seok (as Eom Jae-il), and Han Ye-ji (as Kim Sa-bi) as the character Pyo Nam-gyeong. While she may seem poised and sharp on the surface, Pyo Nam-gyeong is a character who is clumsy and emotional.
Shin Si A said, "I really loved the works of director Shin Won-ho and the 'Hospital Playlist' series. I felt a sense of responsibility not to become a burden. I wanted to contribute positively to the worldview. Since I am the one playing Pyo Nam-gyeong, I tried to understand her perspective on why she said what she said and acted accordingly. I aimed to portray her specifically. I tried my best to exist as Pyo Nam-gyeong within this worldview," she emphasized.
Meanwhile, Shin Si A was selected as the lead for the film 'The Witch (魔女) Part2. The Other One' after passing an audition with a competition ratio of 1,408:1, captivating the public's attention right from her debut. After that, she shot 'Resident Playbook' and the film 'The Old Woman with the Knife' simultaneously, making her mark across both television and film.
