The second trivia for the movie 'YADANG: The Snitch' has been released.
'YADANG: The Snitch' (directed by Hwang Byeong-guk and provided/distributed by Plus M Entertainment, produced by HYBE) is continuing its long run as the top-grossing film of the year. In this context, the production team has released the second trivia.
#1. Only being able to shoot once, 200 people were nervous about the Namdong Station subway scene
The first trivia for the crime action movie 'YADANG: The Snitch', which unfolds as the broker Lee Gang-su (Kang Ha-neul), who designs the drug scene in South Korea, the 'prosecutor' Koo Gwan-hee (Yoo Hae-jin), who seeks to rise to a higher position, and the 'detective' Oh Sang-jae (Park Hae-joon) intertwine with different purposes, is a behind-the-scenes look at the action scene at Namdong Station. The Namdong Station subway scene is a crucial moment when Lee Gang-su, Koo Gwan-hee, and Oh Sang-jae gather at Namdong Station to first confront drug smuggler Yeom Tae-soo (Yum Seong-ju).
In the movie, after several nights of surveillance, the detective Oh Sang-jae tries to catch Yeom Tae-soo at the subway platform. At a crucial moment, prosecutor Koo Gwan-hee arrives on the subway, precisely timing his exit to arrest Yeom Tae-soo. At that time, the scene had to be completed in just 2 hours due to filming conditions, so it had to be shot in one take without any mistakes. It was not possible to go back to the previous subway station and board the subway again due to time constraints.
As a result, director Hwang Byeong-guk, along with approximately 200 cast and crew members on set, were all on edge. It was particularly important for actor Yoo Hae-jin, who played Koo Gwan-hee, to time his exit accurately at platform number 4-2. Fortunately, thanks to the perfect coordination of the actors and crew, the scene was successfully filmed, and director Hwang Byeong-guk recalled, "Even thinking about that scene now gives me chills."
#2. The meaning of 'Sohwenanpa' hanging in prosecutor Koo Gwan-hee's office
Director Hwang Byeong-guk aimed to not only create genre-based excitement in the crime action film 'YADANG: The Snitch' but also to raise awareness about the dangers of drugs and issues regarding corruption in the prosecution. This was evident not just in lines such as "In South Korea, prosecutors can make or destroy a president," but also in the detailed props, notably the frame in Koo Gwan-hee's office featuring the four-character idiom 'Sohwenanpa'.
'Sohwenanpa' (巢毁卵破) means 'when the nest (law and order) is destroyed, the eggs (the people) will also break,' and is known to be a term often used by actual prosecutors. Director Hwang Byeong-guk stated, "I wanted to include a phrase for everyone to think about together."
The movie 'YADANG: The Snitch', which continues to enjoy long-term box office success while revealing more interesting trivia, is currently playing in theaters nationwide.
