Trot singer Cheon Nok-dam recalled the past when he was scammed and suffered emotional scars.
On the KBS1 program 'Morning Garden' aired on the 20th, Cheon Nok-dam, Shin Yong-bin, and Son Bin-ah, who secured the top spots in 'Mr. Trot 3', appeared.
Cheon Nok-dam's life changed due to joining the band in high school. His real name, 'Lee Jeong-hee', was Cheon Nok-dam, who said, 'I was thinking about what to do with my life, and until then, I was a judo athlete. I was contemplating whether to pursue my university major or what to do, and then I heard that the school was starting a band, so I joined without reservation because I loved music since I was young. I entered as a keyboard player, and the vocalist was Ha Dong-kyun, who was a year older than me. That's how my music career began. Following my older brother, I registered for a music academy, stopped sports, and started music.' He later debuted as a solo artist under the stage name 'Lee Jeong' and explained, 'Before my solo debut, I debuted with a group called Seven Days along with Ha Dong-kyun during the World Cup, but we went unnoticed and experienced a period of obscurity before becoming known as a solo artist.'
Cheon Nok-dam, who was active as 'Lee Jeong', took a break from singing and headed to Jeju Island. He said, 'After my activities, I opened a company after returning from the military, but it was difficult and I got hurt. While being hurt by people, I seemed to have gotten emotional and physical scars, so I think I hid away. I even considered immigrating abroad, thinking I would never be a singer again. I went down to Jeju and rested well for about two years without any thoughts. However, not working made my heart feel empty. After that, I tried running a business and worked hard, and my life changed when I met my wife. Right after we got married, I was diagnosed with stage 1 kidney cancer, but thanks to my wife, it was discovered early and became a turning point. Now my health is quite good.'
Cheon Nok-dam added, 'Encouraged by my wife, I decided to take on trot. I usually didn't sing Lee Jeong's songs, but after drinking, I sang trot, and she thought it would be okay and recommended it. I took on a big challenge.'
