Singer Kim Yong-bin recalled his childhood spent with his grandmother.
On the 20th, KBS1's 'Morning Yard' featured the 'Tuesday Special Interview' segment with Shin Yong-bin, Son Bin-ah, and Cheon Rok-dam, who claimed the title of Jin Sun-mi (眞善美) in 'Mr. Trot 3.'
'On the day of the 'Mr. Trot 3' finals, what was Kim Yong-bin's mindset when he heard the announcement? He said, 'At the time of the 1st place announcement, I had no thoughts. So, when I was asked if there were any competitors, I said no. I was that out of it. I ranked 1st in the popularity votes consecutively, but since Son Bin-ah kept winning, I thought she would be the winner.'
Kim Yong-bin's potential as a singer could be seen from his childhood. He was a 'trot prodigy' who started his activities in Daegu at the age of 7.
Kim Yong-bin said, 'It was the 90s when I received an offer to perform at a department store in Daegu, and I sang there. I was 4 years old and sang trot before children's songs. I grew up with my grandmother, who also received offers to be a singer but couldn't due to family opposition. I've realized my grandmother's unfulfilled dream. When news of my singing at the department store spread, I was told that there would be a music festival at the Children's Grand Park in Seoul, so I granted that opportunity and won the grand prize.'
