A group that threatened soccer player Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur) using pregnancy as a pretext has been detained. Amid growing speculation that the unborn fetus may not belong to Son, the case has taken a new turn.
On the 20th, Dispatch reported on the pregnancy and abortion of Son Heung-min's ex-girlfriend A, as well as the second threat related to it.
According to the report, freelance model A confirmed her pregnancy after being involved with two men around the same time. One was Son Heung-min, and the other was known to be a businessman. After receiving a diagnosis of 5 to 6 weeks pregnant, A informed both men. The businessman did not respond, but Son's side did, and A stated during a meeting with Son and a female manager that she had already decided to terminate the pregnancy. Son accepted A's request and paid 300 million won. A underwent the procedure the day after confirming the deposit, and the relationship between the two was concluded.
However, the emergence of B, who has a past conviction for attempted extortion, brought the case to a new phase. B claimed to have developed a romantic relationship with A and started the threat after discovering a confidentiality agreement with Son on A's mobile phone. B demanded that Son's side change the terms, saying, "The penalty clause is too strong, so I can't marry A," and later demanded 70 million won in exchange for providing A's call and text records, urging them to accuse A of extortion and fraud.
In the meantime, Son's side learned from the materials provided by B that A had been involved with two men and was uncertain about whose child it was, raising suspicions. Son's side determined they could no longer be dragged around by B's extortion and decided to sue A for extortion.
On the 17th, Director General Yoon Won-mook of the Seoul Central District Court conducted a pre-arrest interrogatory hearing for A, who is accused of extortion, and B, a man in his 40s accused of attempted extortion, and stated, "There is a risk of evidence destruction and flight," issuing an arrest warrant.
A, known as Son Heung-min's former lover, is accused of extorting more than 300 million won from Son last June by sending ultrasound images of the fetus and threatening to reveal the pregnancy. It is reported that A later wrote a memorandum stating her intention not to disclose the pregnancy, while B is accused of having attempted to approach Son's side in March to receive 70 million won but was unsuccessful. B is known to have learned about the extortion while dating A.
This incident became known when Son's side filed a complaint with the Gangnam Police Station on the 7th. The police arrested A and B on the evening of the 14th and applied for an arrest warrant the next day. They are currently investigating the authenticity of the ultrasound images and other facts based on the mobile phones seized immediately after their arrest.
