Singer Koo Jun-yeob is creating a statue for his late wife, the late Seo Hee-won, which is reportedly set to be completed in time for her first anniversary next year.
According to reports from foreign media, including Taiwanese media Yiping News, Seo Hee-won's mother conveyed her longing for her daughter through social media and drew attention by mentioning Koo Jun-yeob.
Seo Hee-won's mother explained that the statue of Hee-won is scheduled to be completed for the first anniversary next year, and that the design of the statue is being directly handled by her husband, Koo Jun-yeob. He noted, "The location is beautiful, and the statue design is truly lovely. Every picture Koo Jun-yeob has drawn is beautiful."
Earlier, on the 11th, which coincided with the 100th day after Seo Hee-won's passing and Mother's Day, Seo Hee-won's mother had shared a photo of a meal with Koo Jun-yeob and Seo Hee-won's younger brother, Seo Hee-je, among family members. In the photo, Koo Jun-yeob appeared with a somber expression and noticeably thinner appearance, evoking sympathy.
Seo Hee-won's mother said of Koo Jun-yeob, "The reason he is tanned is that he always stayed by Hee-won's side," adding, "He is truly a loyal and caring person. When you meet someone like him in life, you have no other desires. It is true love."
Meanwhile, the late Seo Hee-won passed away on Feb. 2 at a hospital in Tokyo, Japan. After departing for Japan on the 29th of last month for a family trip, she was transported to the emergency room on the third day of the trip, but ultimately passed away due to pneumonia caused by the flu. Subsequently, her family interred her in Jinbao Mountain, Taiwan.
In particular, Koo Jun-yeob has ceased all activities following his wife's death and has not made public appearances, and it is reported that he has lost nearly 12 kg. He is said to spend his nights in tears, deeply mourning his late wife.
Koo Jun-yeob is known to visit the grave of his late wife at Jinbao Mountain every day and has begun the construction of a memorial statue for Seo Hee-won near the cemetery.
