Kim Jun-ho from 'My Little Old Boy' prepared a grand birthday party for his prospective mother-in-law.
In the episode of SBS entertainment program 'My Little Old Boy' aired on the 18th, Kim Jun-ho's last-minute effort to win the heart of his future mother-in-law before the wedding was depicted.
That day, after arriving in Donghae by truck, Kim Jun-ho said, "Today is my mother-in-law's birthday, so I prepared gifts with great care."
"Isn't there anyone who rented a truck to prepare gifts for my mother-in-law?" he expressed with satisfaction. When the truck driver asked, "You're not here for the first time, are you?" Kim Jun-ho replied, "I am alone for the first time. Actually, I was supposed to come with my girlfriend, but she couldn't come due to her schedule," explaining the reason for his solo visit.
Then Kim Jun-ho called Kim Ji-min and said, "I'm almost there now," adding, "It's my first time coming to Donghae without you."
Kim Jun-ho said he felt awkward and nervous going alone, to which Kim Ji-min replied, "I thought about it from your perspective, and if I were to go down alone, I would feel very awkward. So, I really appreciate what you are doing today and feel like I am receiving the best gift before the wedding." Kim Jun-ho then asked, "Is it better than what I do for you?" and Kim Ji-min replied, "Much better than what you do for me. It's really ten thousand times better."
Upon arriving at his mother-in-law's house, Kim Jun-ho prepared a birthday party with his prospective brother-in-law. In particular, Kim Jun-ho caught attention by presenting an electronic drum set for his mother-in-law, who recently started learning drums, as well as a whole barbecue to beautifully decorate the birthday party.
And Kim Jun-ho, who was inside a huge gift box, sat squatting and waited for 30 minutes, which made Kim Ji-min's mother express her apologies, saying, "You should have gone in 5 minutes ago."
When his mother-in-law and her friends appeared, Kim Jun-ho revealed himself as a surprise, making the mothers smile broadly. The surprised mother-in-law said, "What's going on? Why are you doing something you usually don't do?" yet eventually showed tears.
Continuing, Kim Jun-ho mentioned that there would be a birthday party show and personally invited a Korean traditional music group, preparing a fresh cake and gifts from his mother-in-law's friends to score some points. At this, when his mother-in-law's friends praised Kim Jun-ho, she chimed in, "He's good-looking, but he doesn't have a strong impression; he's already great as he is."
Meanwhile, Kim Jun-ho mentioned the mission card hanging on a tree that he had prepared and asked his mother-in-law to pick one. Coincidentally, the card his mother-in-law chose was "Express what made you sad while holding hands and facing each other."
Startled, Kim Jun-ho avoided his mother-in-law's gaze and said, "Actually, about two years ago or something, I went to a cafe with your mother and Ji-min. When Ji-min momentarily left for the restroom, I thought I had become close to your mother and spoke ill of Ji-min behind her back. At that time, she smiled, but later, it was revealed to me. Ji-min told me, 'Why did you talk bad about me to mom?' I was extremely flustered. I can't open up to my mother-in-law. I was perplexed and sad, realizing she was clearly on her daughter's side."
Then Kim Ji-min's mother said, "Last year or the year before, I came home and had a quarrel with Ji-min, so I just left. With elders in the house, how can you leave without saying anything?" She added, "I argued and left, but why should I leave when I'm the elder in the family? I almost let you go, but I called you back. I felt sad at that time." Upon witnessing this, Seo Jang-hoon remarked, "It's understandable to feel hurt; no matter how much you argued, you should at least tell your mother you're leaving."
Finally, the mission card that Kim Jun-ho picked involved calling each other 'mother-in-law' and 'Kim brother-in-law' before linking arms. Kim Ji-min's mother responded, "I don't like 'mother-in-law.' It feels distant. Just call me 'mom.' I'll call you 'Kim brother-in-law.'" Kim Jun-ho then added, "Mom," and the two embraced each other. Kim Ji-min's mother expressed, "Thank you so much. I'm touched."
